Do stairs climb effect calories burned?

I did over 12k steps today. I only actually climbed 3 floors today but it says I climbed 130 -_-. My calorie burn for the day is pretty high. 12k steps is a lot for me (I normally do about 5k), but it makes me wonder if the fitbit is only estimating calories burned based on heart rate, or if its giving some predetermined calorie burn based on thinking I climbed 130 floors?

Floors climbed are not used in calories burned, other than climbing stairs normally raising your heart rate, leading to more calories burned.

As JohnnyRow mentioned, climbing stairs could affect the calories burned, indirectly. See:
