I have a new Fitbit Alta. I have set it up correctly. However it is recording a totally incorrect number of steps.
Yesterday j want particularly active and I recorded over 5000 steps.
This morning it recorded 847 between the bedroom and living room - I live in an average house not a castle!
All the other functions appear to be working accurately including distance.
Should I return it as defective?
Can anyone help please?

I read this on the Fitbit board under another topic (someone was complaining about the same problem on the Charge 2). The fix seems to be saying that your Fitbit is on your dominant hand. Apparently they don't give you as much credit on that hand. LOL! If your Fitbit is already set up to say you are wearing your tracker on your dominant hand, I don't know what else you can do but you might want to search the boards for something indicating too many steps reported.
I did this on my dashboard and it REALLY makes me work for calorie burn now.
