I agree. What is the reason for the change??  Will Fitbit respond to us?????

Best Answer

Agree, update version of sleep data is terrible. Why change it? The old version was much easier to read , new version is not at all user friendly. Change it back. Not happy. 😡

Best Answer

Exactly this! Awful!

Best Answer

Agree!!  The new one is difficult to read and is not user friendly! 😫  Please go back to the previous one!  I’m a terrible sleeper and I depend on it.

Hello @revjudith , @Munfy , @MarVat

Although I doubt that this information will change your views, we recently learned that the sleep data redesign was for Accessibility, especially for users with visual impairments. The updated sleep section is now compatible with screen readers so users who have vision issues can see their data. The sleep graph was redesigned for color blind users. That's why it was divided & stacked into the various sleep stages as opposed to the bar graphs. Apparently, color blind users weren't able to tell the which bar graph was which sleep stage.

The redesign was also necessary for future app enhancements.

I no longer see the option to edit sleep times. Where would I find that? For instance, say I wake up, but stay in bed reading for a while. Since I'm not active, it often thinks I'm still asleep. I used to be able to correct this, but no longer can.

Hello @jmann56

There are 3 vertical dots in the upper right of the Sleep page. Tap on the dots and you will see a menu that includes Edit Sleep. Tap on Edit Sleep to bring up the page/window where you can correct your sleep start/end time.

Just an FYI, I have seen a few posts where users reported that the app doesn't save their edits. If this happens to you, please let us know.

I have the same problem. I don't sleep well (due to chronic pain) but if I am in bed it just gets logged as sleep. I have even walked to the kitchen to get something to drink and walked back and forth a bit, but when I checked "sleep" on the app it just logged it as restless.
This even happened when I would go down the stairs, along a longish apartment hallway, get the mail, go back along said hallway, and up the stairs again. Still logged as restless.
I understand that it misslogs being fairly still as sleep. (It even told me I was sleeping when I was actually watching TV or reading.) But I don't see how it can classify taking steps/walking as restless. And it does log those steps.
Previously I could correct the sleep log, at least somewhat. But now that seems to be gone.

Hello @K.Z.

You should be able to edit your sleep log. Please see my previous response where I provide the instructions on how to get to the edit function for your sleep log.

Thank you, RiekoC! I haven't tried it yet (so I don't know for sure whether my changes would be saved), but I now know where to find that edit option 🙂

I recently posted to another thread, but it appears appropriate to ask here:

Where is the list of reverse chronological order of ALL sleep sessions? Monthly view gives an average and weekly view gives a TOTAL… I need the actual breakdown of all sleep sessions and not the total. Saying 6 hours of total sleep is not the same as 3 hours followed by 3 hours awake then 3 more hours of sleep. It is deceiving not to have a full list of sleep sessions. This is most helpful when a large chunk of time can be viewed (like the ongoing list it used to be).  Am I missing something?

Best Answer

Hello @rfalexan

The reverse chronological of your sleep sessions is there. The navigation to each one is different.

When you tap on your sleep duration tile from the Today page, the page with your sleep data opens. There are now arrows on each side of the word Today, at the top of the page. Tapping on the back arrow on the left will take you to the previous day's sleep data with breakdowns. Continue tapping on the back arrow to see the previous days' sleep data.

In the weekly view, you will see the number of hours & your sleep score for each day below the duration graph, which is the default. When you tap on a specific day, it will open to the page with all your sleep info for that day, with breakdowns. Tapping on the back arrow on the left of This week will take you to the previous week with a list of your sleep sessions for that week.

If there's any other specific sleep data that you're having trouble finding, lets us know. We'll help you navigate to it.

Hi @RiekoC  I appreciate you're trying to help, truly. However it sounds like you don't actually use the app yourself to be honest, or you would know what the problem is..

We know how to navigate the data in past days, weeks, months etc. the point is that you only see each individual night's sleep information either on a sperate page, or very vaguely summarised in the past week. Every Monday the week view gets reset, and the month views become averages. It's infuriatingly bad compared to what it was.

If I wanted to see the specific sleep pattern into from last night and compare it to say, 8-9&10 days ago, that is pretty much impossible now. In the old app (which btw I reinstalled manually again now) I can see it incredibly easily here:

so no, this is not a simply re-skin of the same data. Fundamentally the information we can extract from using the app is different, and simply worse.

Hello @Will4star

I do use the app and review my sleep data. However, I don't review the data the same way that you do.

Although you already have implemented a solution that works for you, please consider submitting a feature request through the Product Feedback forum (<-- click link), especially explaining why & how you want/need the sleep data to be displayed. Even though it may not seem like it, the developers and Fitbit team take the feedback into account when looking to make improvements.

Thanks for the reply @RiekoC

If I'm honest I don't feel the need to submit a feature request when there are already several thousand posts all saying the same thing - that we want the old version back again.

The way we want sleep data to be displayed is how it already was in the old version, it's really quite as simple as that. Everybody who's upset has slightly different reasons since, as you said, people review the data in different ways. If anything, I think that says something about just how badly Google missed the mark on this one.

The committee who designed this (and I suspect there were also some AI gurus eyeing a future with minimal raw data and more 'personal AI coaching', who sold their vision to the committee), are obviously misaligned with what a large number of current users actually want - or at least, how it should be implemented.

Thanks for the reply, @RiekoC , but as  @Will4star shows in the screen shot in their reply; THAT is what I am looking for. That is what I have been missing. Exactly that. Where is that located with the new design? Having to manually keep such a list is a pain when the data was previously available in the format that is most useful to me (and apparently other users).

@Will4star THANK YOU! You get it!!

I had no idea you could install old versions!! I assume I delete the app to do this? Will I lose any data and streak banners if I delete it? I get a scary message that says my data will be deleted when I try this and then don’t delete it because I get scared lol. I don’t want to lose my streak banner!… I work hard for that 😉

This was a bad decision, your team needs to find something that works for everyone not a single group of users, you could have developed it so there were option views instead of wrecking it for the majority.
