Today is New Year's Eve and my mind is buzzing with ideas for the upcoming year!
Having my lovely Fitbit on my side will certainly help me reach my goals for 2015. Some of them are weight and health related but a couple of them are to rest, make me step out of my comfort zone and try new things
So far I have:
How are you going to use your Fitbit towards your 2015 goals?

I love weight lifting. I get real results with lifting, but not until recently did I realize how much nutrition and sleep truly affects my results.
@PaleoCrossfit wrote:Thanks!
In my personal experience, it's a 50/50 balance (rather than the 80/20 that most suggest) of diet AND weight lifting.
Eat clean, train dirty.

Good luck with that. I'm sure you'll achieve your goals! I've considered doing crossfit, but I'm sticking with what I've been doing the last few months. I do 8-12 reps per set, 1 min rest, 20 sets per workout, which is focused on one muscle group at a time. 6 workouts per week. What do you like most about crossfit?
I assume you are on a paleo diet. How's that working out for you? Is it difficult to get all the nutrition you need? A lot of time to prepare meals? Is it expensive?

Karl,
Yes that would be a one rep max. Currently, I'm at 278lbs, so that 22 pounds is huge for me.
Cross fit is fantastic!

@gooberethics I had to google the Disney Marathon, looks like fun!
@EmersonFitbit Why no carbs after 1pm? genuinely curious
@EdgarFitbit Good luck with the soda and coffee! My french press is still my best friend; can't give up on it!
@Dominique Do you have some tips to help get the proper sleeping schedule? It seems I've gotten used to sleeping 3-5 hours per day
@PaleoCrossfit Very impressive goals!
@Columnhugger from 5,000 to 50,000 per day?!
@LaniCakes I'm sure you'll find your comfort zone soon.
@SunsetRunner20 Nutrition, sleep and stress can all affect a body; we all need to find a balance within

@HelenaFitbit , I also meditate. That does so much for true balance.

@HelenaFitbit Sounds funny but my whole family drink coffee every single day at any time and sodas. I'm the only one who wants to change that habit but it's kinda hard. I'd like to start a health regimen and that's my goal #1.
@gooberethics I didn't know about Disney Half Marathon, it not only looks fun, it's fun Good luck!

Awesome Marathon.. Reminds of still needing to play out disneyland adventures.. somehow haven't played it for a while.. need to move with your body (including jumping,..) to do the attractions and running around the park.. and you can even give hugs to your favourite disney characters.

Karl-
I have eaten Paleo for almost 3 years now. It's actually very simple. I highly recommend the book "Practical Paleo". I thought it was going to be significantly more expensive, but surprisingly, it isn't at all. I have to go to the grocery store more often (to get fresh fruit and vegetables), but other than that it's not bad at all.
As far as the best thing about Crossfit, I'd have to say that it's the 'community' aspect of it all. Everyone is so incredibly encouraging. No one is left behind. You don't feel like you're working out by yourself, ever. Also, the competitiveness of it all is pretty great.

@emerson Why no carbs after 1pm? genuinely curious
Personally, all of my activity is done by 7 AM. I try to have anywhere between 12-18K steps before 9 AM. As such, my body needs/craves carbs early in the morning, and the early afternoon too. So, I take in all the carbs I need before and after I run, and then take a little more so that my body has fuel after 1 PM. In the afternoon, it's all greens and proteins.
It's essentially a normal, healthy diet until 1 PM, which is when I switch to paleo. It works for me, but I'm just weird.

My goal this year is to be happy and healthy!
I have done a Spartan Sprint last year. My time was 2 hrs 10 mins. I was the 10th worse woman that day, that's okay though because I finished!!!! I had to do a lot of burpees. I mean a lot of burpees because punishment for not doing an obstacle is 30 burpees. My husband who is very lean but not athletic did the Spartan with me. He had no problem lifting his body weight. He did break his heel at the 3km mark scaling the 8ft wall. He also finished the race with me. I got to carry him the last 2kms. He wouldn't give up because he didn't want me too. Either way what do you do when you know what a Spartan Race consists of and you know you can finish on? You sign up for another one! So August this year I am signed up again. I would have a way easier time if I could lift my body weight. It would be a lot easier if my BMI wasn't 38 too! So between gaining the physical strength and trimming down my already but needs to be a bit stronger body, I would really like to beat my time by at least 45 minutes this year.

Whooooah @Lazychick the Spartan Sprint sounds (and looks) hardcore! I wish the best of luck to you and your husband

I'm keeping my goals simple & realistic for me. Getting more sleep is #1 because I'm averaging about 5 per night - sometimes even less. I need to rule that out as a reason I'm not seeing better results.

My goals mainly revolve around running as that's my big aim to become more of a runner this year.
I want to get my :
5k from 30min --> 25min
10k from 1hr 5 min --> 55 min
Half Marathon from 2 hr 20min --> 2hr
I have a 10k coming up March 1st that ive dragged my parents into as well! (They're keen to get back into running after both having nearly a 30 year hiatus from marathon running) So i'll soon know how on top of my goals i am!

In 2015 I'm going to aim to walk more each day and build back up to running again. I'm aiming to lose 25 lbs and gain muscle...losing more weight would just be a bonus.
I will be more mindful, drink more water, get more sleep and be positive. Thanks Fitbit and this great community of fellow fitbitters.

well I am new to the fitbit so with getting one for christmas i decided to add it to my things to try, 🙂 I can say this is the first time in my life I have actually tried to reach my goals, I was recently diganosied with MS and that tends to have a way of making you look at things differently well atleast once you get over being pissed at the world. 🙂 so for my goals for the year:
1. stop smoking by the end of the year as of 12/31 was 2.5 packs a day on 1/1 went to 15 cigs a day
2. Keep working out at the gym 2 times a week
3. lose 29 more pounds (already lost 18 sense 11/25)
4. Take a Zumba class in April
5. Stay on the Paleo Diet ( not bad so far)
6. Sleep more ( i only get about 3 hours a night if that, would like to get it up to at least 6 a night)
I don't think I'm asking for mircale huh?
Good Luck everyone

@HelenaFitbit: I wish there were a magic formula! I try to hit bed before Midnight, as it would normally do the trick for me. I'm self-employed and have the luxury of working from home, so no need to wake up very early, spend time dressing up, commuting etc.
3-5 hours is very little, must put a lot of stress on your body. I think you should try to increase incrementally.
