28 Day Average

How is the 28 day average calculated?  In the dashboard I have a figure like 9500 a day.  I then go to the Activity log and put in a 28 day time period and I get a dramatically different answer.  I try some other 28 day averages like today going back 28 days, yesterday going back 28 days, 2 days ago and still it doesn't work.

Fitbit support -- can you give me the dates for the 28 day average for today to plug in to verify the 28 day average in the dashboard matches the 28 days in the activity log?

Just curious: in what part of the interface do you see 28-day averages? I mostly see 7-day averages in my own Dashboard, hence my question.

In the tile named "Steps" you can select today, 7 day average and 28 day average from a drop down list on the right. You can also change the tile to other data tracked with the drop down list just left of that.

Thanks, @Esya! This is weird: with Chrome as the browser (I use it 99.9% of the time), this is what I see:

In other words, the part on the right-hand side of the graph is blank.

With Internet Explorer (I have v. 11, which is very old, since I’m still using Windows 7), I see the same thing as you:

I must admit I’m not very familiar with these graphs, as I mostly use the mobile app on my smartphone when looking at the numbers or graphs. What was the problem: is the 28-day average wrong?

I understand that it is in my dashboard but I am trying to download the data and have my 28 day average calculated.  My 7 day average calculates fine but my 28 day does not.

Given today is 1/6.  Do I calculate it from 12/9 - 1/5?  Because I am off by 50 steps.

@wvetThe 28 day step graph starts from the latest full day... yesterday...  My mistake..

But I can't make sense of it, if I include the few steps today, and go back the 28 days from my exported data I still can't make it balance with the average.. The calories average is incorrect as well

I have noticed the same thing.. My daily average is out by 10 steps = +280 steps for the 28 days.

I have compared the daily totals to my export and they all agree... So there is an issue with the Fitbit calculation.

I have never worried too much because I have always exported my activity data and work on that and there has been no manual step data entered for months.
