Did you mean:

5K

So, my mom, sister, niece, and I have all decided to pick up running. We started couch 2 5k. We are actually on Week 8 Day 1. We are wanting to find a 5K to run. However, we can't seem to find any!!

Have any of you ran a 5k and have suggestions!? I know it might not be in our state but any suggestions would help.

Thanks!

Looks to me like unless you live in AZ or MT, you can find one. Where do you live?

Hi. I have a similar issue, not in relation to a walk/jog path, but a bicycle path. There is a stretch of 'quiet' road I do, every second day or so, which is about 15 miles. Once I trained and got better at it, I needed to extend my run and was relectant to go beyond this particular stretch, either because of very steep hills or traffic. I know that this may sound as a simplistic solution, but I just doubled up on my on the same path instead bothering to find another one that would give me 30 miles. Works for me!

I have another suggestion for you - intervals. If you're going from 2.5K to 5K, that's a fairly big jump. I started doing intervals about six months ago and have found it very beneficial. Since you've already trained for jogging, you can jump right into a 50/50 split instead of building up to it. So you would jog as fast as you comfortably can for 2.5 mintues; and then switch to a brisk walk for 2.5 minutes; and alternate back and forth for the whole duration of your run. You see, you don't use your leg muscles and joints the same way when walking and jogging; and by alternating between the two, you give these muscles a chance to revover. As an added bonus, you also burn more calories with intervals, because of the HR peaks and throughs. If you only walk or jog, over time, your body gets used to that regimen and you'll stop burning - intervals will fool your body and help to keep your burn rate at peak level.

I would love FB to incorporate a 5k training plan into the new app with the premium service!

Well, having been a Premium subscriber for almost a full year, I FULLY AGREE WITH YOU. So how about if you were to add this in the feature request forrum and when you do so and ping me, I will be one of the first to vote to for it. If it gets enough traction, I can guarantee you that the Fitbit gurus will pay attention!Smiley Wink
