So I have been going to the gym for awhile now. My question is during my strength training I was wanting to throw in core periodically instead of doing them all at the end.
Is this beneficial, or would it be less productive?
Any insight is welcome, thanks in advance!

In my opinion and I am sure I will get some disagreement, your core is actually engaged the entire time you are working out regardless of what you are doing. If you are lifting, you are keeping upright and sucking in your gut, which engages your core. If you are doing a farmer work, you are engaging your core. If you are doing cardio with steep incline (not holding on- that is a waste of time to be honest) your core is heavily engaged and if throw on a weighted vest, even more so. So whether you do targeted core activities, before, during or after.. in my opinion, you are actually using all through out.

What do you mean by "throwing in periodically" vs. "doing them all at the end"? Would you be doing the same exercises with the same frequency, but merely change the order in which you perform them? Core muscles are relatively small, so one could argue it makes sense to start your workouts with exercises that hit larger muscle groups (e.g. quads, back, shoulder), in other words do them when you have the most juice.

I usually stick them at the end, because it doesn't take a lot of horsepower to get through core work.
You could easily "work them in" throughout the workout, and I doubt there will be much difference performance-wise. But if shaking things up for variety, I say go for it.
