Ankle FitBit

In line with many comments regarding Fitbits for ankle, I walk w/a walker so my arms are virtually motionless - little or no tracking. Other than sleeping, I wear Fitbit around ankle. Mine is outdated Fitbit One. I have wonderful various colored adjustable & washable straps that I wear on wrist (night) & ankle (awake hours). Unfortunately, Windows 10 caused Fitbit One upgrade problems, so am now checking new devices. But none of Fitbits devices come w/adjustable strap 7.5" to 10". I agree with all others who have written about need for an ankle strap - these comments have been posted for years, what's wrong w/mfg's of Fitbit that they cannot provide for this need!

On Amazon, there are some third-party straps designed for different Fitbit models to wear on an ankle and/or wrist. I don't think Fitbit designed any tracker to be worn on the ankle but third parties filled that gap in the market.

One issue is heart rate tracking. Because the density of ankle skin is different than the wrist, it can cause odd behavior in HR tracking. Some people care more about steps than HR so no problem, while others report the HR works fine or not so fine on their ankle. Regardless, Fitbit does only recommend it be worn on the wrist.

It never felt comfortable for me, wearing it on the ankle. Kind of felt like I was under house arrest. 🙂

@WavyDavey that's correct. My wife wears her Charge 2 most of time on her ankle as she is not allowed to wear it at work ( and any jewelery etc. ). She's never bothered with HR and calories. She's mostly about steps and sleep tracking. When she sleeps she wears Charge 2 on her wrist. However, she uses thirdparty magnetic bracelet as it is lot easier to adjust it and lock it.

I should think that if all someone wants to do is track steps that it really wouldn't be necessary to "strap" it.  Wouldn't just slipping it into your sock work?

Thanks for the suggestion. Couple of thinkgs:

1 I live in Houston & wear sandals most of the time

2 I also use it on my wrist at night to monitor sleeping

Since Fall hit, and I wearing socks daily, I've been tucking my Charge 2 into my sock. It tracks my steps, heart rate, and sleep all from my sock!
