I have found that when I have paperwork to do - put on kitchen counter - so I have to stand - and I step from side to side - you'd be surprised how the steps accumulate !

I do the same when getting ready for work in the mornings...step around as much as possible - at least until it's time to put on mascara ;0)
I have a desk job, so I also make a point to walk around the office (which is very small) at least once every hour. For laundry, I take the clean clothes basket in one room, and leave the hangers in another so that I have to keep going back and forth to hang them up when I'm sorting through dry clothes. Sometimes I don't have the time for that though!

I've actively started parking much further away when I head to work/store/gym etc... Adds a few hundred or more steps for me daily, depending on where I all go.

I will park once and walk to different shops, out in the center of the lot there is more free space and you are less likely to get dinged. Parking further away also had the advantage of being quicker. (Next time you go to the megastore, watch the car ahead of you. You will usually enter the store before they do with the closer space.)
