I am two weeks post total knee replacement. Has anyone had experience with setting up a program to get back to pre knee replacement?

I had repair surgury, not replacement. My wife was a personal trainer. I wanted to sit and feel sorry for myself the next day, but she sais, "Time to go to the gym". I said, "But I just had a knee operation yesterday". Her reply was, "You still can work your upper body". I would say get to the gym and do all the upper bocy work you can. UBE (the bicycle you use with your hands), weight machines for arms, chest, back and core. Definately do the PT and make sure to push as hard as pollible to keep the new joint flexible or it will get stiff.
Good luck.

You really need to talk to your PT or Dr to find out what is best for you

Most people I know in the profession choose to do aqua therapy to be able to gently work the knees as well as the rest of the body. To someone who is used to weight lifting and running, water aerobics and rehab in the pool can seem 'wimpy' initially. However, you will find that you actually get a great all-round workout, without putting too much strain on the knees. I'm not sure why more ortho docs dont recommend pool therapy--but it may have something to do with limited availability. Most insurances pay for it the same as any other rehab.
