Anyone with Heart Issues on here?

Hi!

I am currently having Heart issues and high blood pressure problems! My cardiologist has put me on medicine but has told me to stop working out until further notice. I am going crazy! Anyone have any tips or suggestions on how to get in some excercise without doing too much?

Thanks!

@Ellebelle515Listen to your cardiologist... You have many years ahead of you and walking is exercise and with the amount of weight you want to lose just keep in mind the weight would have increased over time. As my doctor said to me it took a while to accumulate don't be in a hurry , just be sensible and it will happen. A Fitbitter in one of my Groups posted this "The fork is mightier than the foot".

My youngest, fit brother, overweight, just had atrial fibralation rapid heart beat with no warning or symptoms..... and suffered a massive stroke. Take care.... This is a person who could do 100 pushups on the spot.

Keep us posted because we are a caring lot....

My mother has blood pressure issues, and I'm prehypertensive.

Absolutely listen to your cardiologist. Before doing any kind of mild exercise, talk to him/her first to be sure your heart is strong enough to endure it.

That said, yoga could be a positive outlet for you. And I am not talking about the "butt-blasting, ab-crunching, thigh-thinning" kind of yoga that is running rampant now-a-days. I mean the mild, calm, stretching form of yoga which is centered around relaxation and pain-relief. You may not have muscular aches (at least you didn't mention any) but stretching can help maintain your current muscle build and release some of that pent-up energy.

I repeat: consult your doctor, first!
