This fourth month of 2020 will bring more mud in my area — and more COVID-19. Like there isn’t enough already! But try not let it get in the way of your goals. Temperatures should be mild in both Northern and Southern hemispheres. Get outside (if authorities allow and you are not sick) and experience life! If you need to be inside it may be time to add some bodyweight exercises to your routine, some yoga, or something else new.
Me, I’m going to try and learn to ride a unicycle this month!. And, of course, I will be washing my hands 10-15x/day, and maintaining 6 ft distance, and otherwise trying to “flatten the curve" in my community.
How It Works
The primary purpose of these monthly challenges is to keep track of your daily step goals for the month; though many of us track other things as well, like body weight exercises, sleep, trips to the gym, logging food, etc. This is not a competition to see who can do the most of whatever, instead it is a challenge to measure your consistency. So whether you do 1k, 5k, 10k or even 40k steps a day, this is measuring how many days out of the monthly total you can hit your goal.
Some might have a constant goal of 10k steps every single day and others might have a variable goal throughout the week, (and some might even plan days off!) for example.
Monday -> Friday = 10k steps a day
Sat & Sun = “6k steps a day,” or “not tracking”
Regardless of how you structure your daily goals, the only thing that matters for the monthly challenge is whether or not you reach what you set out to do.
Suggested Posting Format
1) Post either your constant or variable step goal.
2) Keep track of the # of daily goals achieved out of the monthly minimum and or monthly total
Picture Scavenger Hunt — 3 pictures
The theme of the photo scavenger hunt this month is changing seasons and the effect of COVID-19. It is the beginning of Spring in the North and Fall in the South. So blossoms for some of us, falling leaves for others. And since the pandemic is still raging, pics of how life and people around you are adapting to that new fact of life — including, if you are learning something new in your fitness life, your progression in that. Hopefully I'll be able to share a pic of me actually on my new unicycle sometime this month!
Once the rain stops I'm going to get on this thing!

Although you certainly don’t have to post daily, you’ll likely stay closer to what you set out to do by updating the thread several times/week
Injury Notice
If you injure yourself during the month and need to scale back due to the injury, then all you have to do is adjust your goal for that period. If you normally do 10k steps a day but pull a hamstring and decide to do minimal walking (2k steps a day), then all you have to do is change your goal.

Here are my goals for April Showers
-15K steps/day
-1 pushup/day (I always do more, but this goal gets me into position!)
-1 pull-up/day (bringing this back after a six-month absence due to tendonitis)
-16 weight-lifting days
-20 days on the unicycle
-post 3 scavenger hunt pictures
-Sleep 6 hr 10 min+ 13 days or more during the month

Unfortunately with my routine shifted and my sleep being highly erratic, I've added the option to at least hit 10K in steps a day. It's been hard to even hit that, especially when I'm struggling to get up in the morning. But I'm hoping this will help me motivate. I may try a few other things with resistance bands this month too. I am hoping the rain doesn't put a damper on doing yoga on the deck this month. That's been kind of nice, even if it's only during a 15-minute break.

I will keep this simple for April.
Step goal of 8k per day. Since March 12 I've only had 2 days over 10k.
Yoga & light weights 3x a week. Need to work on this just to keep my muscles working.

Middleton Beach - Socially distanced swim at 6am (before I went in). The water was brisk but beautiful!

@WendyB It's to protect the stuff they hoarded. Truly. I know a few who already were on the survivalist side, and now with this pandemic, they feel they need to protect themselves from looters looking for supplies. You'd think this was an episode of Walking Dead the way people are hoarding things.

I haven't changed my goals for this month, but am already behind the eight ball as I didn't leave the house or log things for the first two days. To give myself a break, I have decided that April has only 28 days 🤓 I am also adding my BMI goal - albeit veiled to protect my humiliation 😳 as this measure bounces all over the place I will update it weekly. Is there a better way to express this??? My attempt above seems lumpy.
