Before Noon June 2024 Step Challenge and Photo Scavenger Hunt

It’s June! — the last month of the first half of 2024!  Think about that. Stuff got in the way of some of my exercise goals last month so I think it is time to go back to basics and remember the early start. So the goal this month is to get in some exercise in the morning, or at least before noon. Before Noon June 🙂

How It Works:

The primary purpose of these monthly challenges has been to keep track of your daily step goals for the month; though many of us track other things as well, like body weight exercises, sleep, trips to the gym, logging food, etc. This is not a competition to see who can do the most of whatever, instead it is a challenge to measure your consistency. So whether you do 1k, 5k, 10k or even 40k steps a day, this is measuring how many days out of the monthly total you can hit your goal.

Some might have a constant goal of 10k steps every single day and others might have a variable goal throughout the week, (and some might even plan days off!) for example.
Monday -> Friday = 10k steps a day
Sat & Sun = “6k steps a day,” or “not tracking”

Regardless of how you structure your daily goals, the only thing that matters for the monthly challenge is whether or not you reach what you set out to do.

Suggested Posting Format
1) Post either your constant or variable step goal.
2) Keep track of the # of daily goals achieved out of the monthly minimum and or monthly total

Although you certainly don’t have to post daily, you’ll likely stay closer to what you set out to do by updating the thread several times/week.

Picture Scavenger Hunt — 3 pictures

The theme of the photo scavenger hunt are morning pics. What’s out in the world early in the morning? Last month it would be the school bus pickup across the street from me, but I’ll need to find something else now that school is out for the summer. Below is the balloon festival in Albuquerque NM from October 10, 2010. That was a great morning!

Injury Notice
If you injure yourself during the month and need to scale back due to the injury, then all you have to do is adjust your goal for that period. If you normally do 10k steps a day but pull a hamstring and decide to do minimal walking (2k steps a day), then all you have to do is change your goal.

Well, I tested positive for COVID on May 29, and had a pretty bad night of coughing and congestion on May 30. I don't think I will feel up a lot of activity for the first week of June have accordingly lowed my monthly goals a bit.

Went down to see the Classic Car race this morning. It is held here every year and I enjoy watching it. This was my favourite car this year!

@Jotex @Vidd - this is my second time with Covid. First was January 2023. Thursday and Friday last week were miserable, fever, coughing, congestion and so on, but fever broke on Saturday and I've been feeling pretty good since. Still testing positive tough. Missing in-person attendance at a committee meeting my office is hosting in DC today, so my contributions for that will be virtual, but other than having dinner with some of the judges I support throughout the year being remote is not too big a deal.

So sorry for the very late goals.. I have been slammed in all directions, A LOT of steps, music, graduations, classes, etc...

I hope by this point you are better @Baltoscott .  I appreciate your dedication to helping us try to stay committed to posting and staying accountable.

Goals and Day 9:

10k steps per day (Sundays) -  2/4days

Over 13k steps per day -  3/13 days

Over 16k steps per day -   2/8 days

Over 20k steps per day - 2/5

Weights - 2/14 days 

Yoga/pilates/stretch - /15 days

90 oz Water every day -  9/30 days

5 lb weight loss - /5 pounds lost 

Mindfulness/Meditation at least 3 minutes-    -/7

Asleep by Midnight at least 15 days-  2/15 days

Nice weather for the last few days. Stopped off at a small cemetery on the campus of Notre Dame of Maryland Sunday morning. All nuns. Nice peaceful area. Got a pic of an eastern pewee.
