Burning Calories

Is it normal that I do 3 times the amount of steps plus exercise than my husband, but at the end of the day we burn the same amount of calories?

That may be ok. When fitbit calculates your calorie burn it takes into account your activity primarily based on your steps. It also includes those calories you burn just keeping your body alive (even when asleep). These are known as your BMR calories and they are calculated from your profile settings (age, height, weight etc) so if your husband is much bigger / heavier than you then his calorie burn rate will be higher.

@Sara149- Have you noticed how you can casually mention going a diet, and your husband magically loses 5 pounds?  Smiley Happy   Yep, it happens!   As @SteveH mentioned, your BMR and your husband's BMR are probably quite different.

Men typically have higher metabolism than women (so unfair!). I think metabolic rate also depends on muscle mass, and men typically have more than women.

Unfair yes, and also normal.
