Did you mean:

Calories allowed ... confused

ANSWERED

Hello,

I'm just at the beginning and a little bit confused. Could someone clarify for me? I have a weight loss goal and I log food.

On my dashboard I see: 1379 cal left to it.

What does it mean? I should not set my plan for calories intake? Fitbit itself calculate how much I could take calories based on other criteria?

Thanks

When having set up a weight loss plan, Fitbit displays the calories to eat (maintenance - your chosen deficit).

The calories left to eat is a guidance how much food can be eaten for the day to follow the plan. It's allowed to be under or over the food plan with 50 calories to stay within' the food plan.

When walking, running, doing exercises such as weight lifting, tennis,.. the calories allowed to eat will increase since the body uses more calories for doing such activities.

Don't worry to eat more than normally, you'll stay within the food plan. Best to eat more, 'cause if the deficit becomes to large, then there can be more weight loss than the plan set but it can be from muscles instead of body fat and weighing less while having the same body fat percentage or even a increase in body fat since the body can hold onto food / energy (lowering metabolism,..) if it believes there's a food shortage. Could someone help me?  I need to start a thread and can't figure out how.  I'm having a problem with my dashboard.  The calories in v. calories burned icon says that I have calories left to eat, but if I reach my goal for that icon, my little calorie meter says that I'm over the limit.  Is there a way to fix this so that the two at least agree with each other and I can eat enough to satisfy the in/out feature AND still be 'in range' on the meter?  It may seem kind of fussy, but I want the system to be compatible at least with itself.

I think your left to eat calories don't include your deficit goal, just your maintenance. Your meter is based on your deficit goals. But I'm not certain.

one shows the estimated for the day assuming that your have a sedentary or personalised prediction. (one of the settings), the other shows the difference between what you have burned at that point in time and what you have eat ( or rather entered)

one reflects the momen,t so at 2pm)  if you are 'in balance' or not, while  the other the bigger whole day picture.
