Hi Nicole,
It calculates based on your base rate. So it won't be green until midnight the next day because ... well, because you'll be alive until midnight, which means your body will be burning calories until midnight!
Best Answerthts not what she is talking about 😉 She would like to change her calories burned 'goal' it set because its to high for her to feasibly reach. -- I get you lol check out my post about the same

I remember this when starting with Fitbit: I could reach all other goals (steps, active minutes, floors, distance), but calories burned was the one I had a hard time hitting. I literally had to go the extra mile to hit it. In practice, it meant getting something like 13-14k steps, instead of the default 10k.
I believe the calories burned goal is set at a (more) challenging level on purpose: to give you an incentive to be even more active, so you don’t rest on your laurels once you’ve reached the other goals.
If you look at the various activity levels in this online calculator, there are five of them:
The calories burned goal set by Fitbit corresponds more or less to "High Activity". Reaching the standard step goal of 10k would put you somewhere between "Light" and "Moderate". Let’s face it: if we come from a background of many years spent as sedentary, it can be a shock to realize what it takes to become really active.
As @Anjanas said, you cannot set yourself a new (lower) goal. The only way would be to edit your personal info and pretend you’re older, shorter and/or lighter, all of which would result in a lower BMR.

@ccmso12: I see from your profile you’re averaging about 15k steps per day:
Are you saying the calories burned goal set for you by Fitbit is a lot higher than what you would get for TDEE with "high activity" as the activity level in the online calculator I mentioned earlier?

Best AnswerI'm not sure about mobile, but if you're on a computer: if you mouse over the widget for steps, calories, etc. and click the little "gear" at the bottom left, you can adjust all of your goals, including calories.
Best AnswerI wonder if those of us who are bigger have, oddly enough, an easier time hitting the calorie goal. I say that because even though my daily goal is 2,768, I almost always hit it, even on days when I feel like laying on the sofa, watching TV, and eating chips all day long. Go figure.
