Im looking to buy a bicycle. I am curious does it matter what I buy? I was thinking a beach cruiser, but would it be better to buy a bike with speeds and resistance?

I do lots of cycling, i even put more miles on my bike then my car last few years 🙂 lol.
It depends what you going to use for !.
I would suggest bike with gears. If you get head wind and can not use lower gear, you can hate your bike :).

What surface will you be riding on? Smooth pavement, broken streets, rock or dirt trail, etc. Are you just riding for fun or for fitness, replace car, commute, with friends, etc.

Slightly deveating from what the original question was, but does fitbit register activity minutes when on a bike? Can it also register a distance?
I'm assuming it doesn't register steps.

@repcosy, as with all things fitness, It all depends. It depends on the model of Fitbit tracker you have, and the Exercise Mode capabilities of the tracker. Some of the trackers have a built-in GPS, such as the Surge, and others use Connected GPS from the phone, such as the Blaze and Charge 2. If you have one of the trackers with GPS capability, it can be used to track the distance. Any of the trackers will count a few steps from the bouncing and turning of the handlebar, but will not count actual steps.

Distance will need GPS use, but i use speedometer which is a unit that count wheel revolution and figures out distance. Cheap and accurate. It has clock, distance, total distance, timer and etc.
I test drive road bike that bought today for a short time. Fitbit charge 2 gave me these data and about 3,300 steps.
