Well how about that? It is the last month of the 2023, holiday food everywhere you look, all sorts of social obligations so .... why not INDULGE? Hmmmm ... Cookies!
OK, let's not go completely overboard. Recommit to your minimum daily fitness goals so you've got something reasonable to beat next month when you plan out 2024. As for eating, worry less about what you are trying to avoid, and more on what you are trying to include. Enjoy the holidays and your time with friends and family, and try to get a few of them to join you on a walk around the neighborhood.
General monthly instructions are below, including the monthly picture scavenger hunt.
How It Works
The primary purpose of these monthly challenges is to keep track of your daily step goals for the month; though many of us track other things as well, like body weight exercises, sleep, trips to the gym, logging food, etc. This is not a competition to see who can do the most of whatever, instead it is a challenge to measure your consistency. So whether you do 1k, 5k, 10k or even 40k steps a day, this is measuring how many days out of the monthly total you can hit your goal.
Some might have a constant goal of 10k steps every single day and others might have a variable goal throughout the week, (and some might even plan days off!) for example.
Monday -> Friday = 10k steps a day
Sat & Sun = “6k steps a day,” or “not tracking”
Regardless of how you structure your daily goals, the only thing that matters for the monthly challenge is whether or not you reach what you set out to do.
Suggested Posting Format
1) Post either your constant or variable step goal.
2) Keep track of the # of daily goals achieved out of the monthly minimum and or monthly total
Picture Scavenger Hunt
This month look for and post pictures at least 3 outdoor holiday displays while out and about.
Posting
Although you certainly don’t have to post daily, you’ll likely stay closer to what you set out to do by updating the thread several times/week
Injury Notice
If you injure yourself during the month and need to scale back due to the injury, then all you have to do is adjust your goal for that period. If you normally do 10k steps a day but pull a hamstring and decide to do minimal walking (2k steps a day), then all you have to do is change your goal.

Thanks for Dancing December and the beautiful pic of this month’s Beaver Moon @Baltoscott. Will start mulling {*} over my goals for next month. Speaking of *mulling, the stands with mulled wine will be some of the most popular at Bern’s Christmas market, which starts on Friday the 1st. 🍷
P.S. Doing better, but I could really kick myself for procrastinating on getting my covid booster. Now I have to wait at least 3 months. My bad.

Hey all, so I honestly haven't been on the community page in who knows how long...Are the monthly challenges something where we would just post here daily whether or not we meet our goal? I have not been active in years at this point and I really need to get back into taking my daily step goal seriously but would like "like minds" to help hold me accountable...I'm happy to do the same for others.

Hi @ChandaB. Yes, exactly. Just check in throughout the month and report on how it's going. Just the act of doing that can help you focus on what you are trying to do.

I'm clearly a slacker compared to the rest of these posts, but I haven't been active in at least 4 years at this point so I am going to start with baby steps...My goal is to get at least 8K steps each weekday through the month. When I work from home, I can easily let myself slip into getting only 3500 to 4K steps...
On that note, I was in the 4K range today and went out and did driveway laps in the cool evening mist and hit my 8K goal. Let's see if I can keep this going through the month...😁

@ChandaB Good on you for starting. Everyone needs to start somewhere and 8,000 steps is a good goal. Good luck with it.

Keep at it @ChandaB -- it can be hard to get away from your desk whether you are working from home or at the office, but driveway laps definitely count.
