Exercise mode or active minutes?

ANSWERED
I'm a bit confused about logging an exercise manually or using the active minutes from the exercise mode as my workout? I had assumed that if I used the exercise mode on my charge whilst working out, it would translate into a workout on the app and show up in the "track exercise" section. However this does not seem to be the case. So, should I log my steps class manually as a workout or just stick to using the active minutes logged by using the exercise mode? Sorry if that's confusing, but I am confused, lol!

And when I look at my phone exercise history, they are all doubled.  This doesn't double the steps but they are all listed twice, which is wrong.

No, you are reading that incorrectly most likely.

Look at the 2 entries, are they actually exactly the same?

Activity record is stats from the device when you pushed the button.

Workout record is from using the GPS function in app, it replaces the stats that Fitbit provided for steps, distance, and calorie, with it's more accurate info.

Look at my profile, Activity page. I purposely have actvity record prior to manual logging of workout.

Then the workout record too.

I just went for a quick walk at work and set the exerice tracker on my phone.  Apparently the GPS or something wasn't working, so there was no activity recorded.  When I went into the dashboard and logged the activity it doubled my steps and distance.  What am I supposed to do to keep activites working for an accurate look back on my exercise?

so you saw the stats for the day increase by a huge jump right after you manually logged the workout?

Don't need the GPS, step accuracy probably close enough.

This is what my phone shows.  Also, concerning the other issue, I will just use the activity button on the fitbit and not my phone but it should work.

Your image was too small for me to see the actual words or details (I enlarged it but the resolution was too low to read). But something does look funny to me. What are all those GPS maps? On my Surge, I only get one map per tracked walk when I use the exercise mode on the watch. But, I never use the tracking mode on the Fitbit app. Often I use the activity/sleep mode on my Fitbit One but that does not make GPS maps. Where are your maps coming from? Are they from the Fitbit app? Or do you use a Surge? (if so, are you also using the app, if you are maybe stop using the app to track), or do you have another service like Endomondo, Strava, etc that you set up to sync to Fitbit?

If you are synching from multiple sources you can end up logging more than once. I often see two records as HeyBales described but that is when I use the timer on my Fitbit One (this applies to others, but maybe not the Surge) and then manually log an activity or use a third party app that logs for me. In my case, one record shows what fitbit would have tracked (but no map since my One does not have GPS) and the other record shows what I overwrote the Fitbit data with. Sometimes people think this is counting both, but it is not (in my case nor should it be). Your picture looks like something different is going on, but I can't see the times on your listings. I don't use the tracker in the Fitbit app though as I really see no need for it in my case and when I tested it, I didn't like how it altered my step count.

My phone starts off correct and then it goes double, so I think it is a
phone problem. Thanks for your input!

I use a Fitbit Charge w HR and I do not track using anything else.  So, not sure what the actual issue is, but again, thanks for your help

I too use the track my exercise on my fit bit app. Once you start your walk or run GPS starts up. At the end it will tell you the impact of your work out on steps, miles ,cal. Burned and stair count
Also, their will be a map drawing out ur route. I haven't had an issue with it double up my steps but, I was having an issue with 2 posting on my activity log stating I walk to walks but it never W my steps. Now it's recording before it with either double my walk or not recorded somebody fix something within the last week I use it all the time

Sorry with the auto correct... it would never add double steps to my total count. it was just charting my activities twice
But, that recently has changed somebody fixed it just recently

Thank you all.  I don't see my activities twice on my phone anymore.  Must have been a bug.

The issue of doubling steps was bit different.  I would try and use my GPS tracking on the phone and when it wouldn't work, I would log the activity manually.  This is when it would double my steps.  I just won't do that anymore.

I record walked steps on Fitbit. If the battery runs low, though, I remove the Fitbit and wind up not recording steps during that time.  I have entered these through the Activities module but these steps are not averaged in with the regular steps.  Is there a way of including these in the dashboard steps graph?

Nope.

Because those steps are the ones used for challenges - and if you could
just enter any old number of steps that would count towards challenges -
well, you know what would happen.

So manually entered steps, or manually entered walking/running which then
calculates new step values - are not included in that step total you see.
