FYI July — Step Challenge and Photo Scavenger Hunt
Just a little For Your Information that we are halfway through 2019, and it is time to sign up for another monthly challenge. And a reminder that if you happen to see this for the first time mid-month, jump on in; there is no need to wait for another challenge to start next month.
How It Works
The primary purpose of these monthly challenges is to encourage you to set and hit your daily step goals for the month; though many of us track other things as well, like body weight exercises, sleep, trips to the gym, logging food, etc. This is not a competition to see who can do the most of whatever, instead it is a challenge to measure your consistency. So whether you do 1k, 5k, 10k or even 40k steps a day, this is measuring how many days out of the monthly total you can hit your goal.
Some might have a constant goal of 10k steps every single day and others might have a variable goal throughout the week, (and some might even plan days off!) for example.
Monday -> Friday = 10k steps a day
Sat & Sun = “6k steps a day,” or “not tracking”
Regardless of how you structure your daily goals, the only thing that matters for the monthly challenge is whether or not you reach what you set out to do.
Suggested Posting Format
1) Post either your constant or variable step goal.
2) Keep track of the # of daily goals achieved out of the monthly minimum and or monthly total
Picture Scavenger Hunt — 3 pictures
The theme this month is a parade or other outside event or a famous landmark. In the US there should be plenty of material on or around July 4. Elsewhere it might be a market or someplace near you that regular shows up in the paper or on television.

Although you certainly don’t have to post daily, you’ll likely stay closer to what you set out to do by updating the thread several times/week
Injury Notice
If you injure yourself during the month and need to scale back due to the injury, then all you have to do is adjust your goal for that period. If you normally do 10k steps a day but pull a hamstring and decide to do minimal walking (2k steps a day), then all you have to do is change your goal.

@SteppingBooks – thanks for the allergy recommendations. I’ll talk to my doctor about this when I go in for my physical next week, and maybe see an allergist after that. Thankfully, it is pretty much gone right now, but I’ve been taking a Claritin every day the grass pollen count has been rated high around here, and some OTC antihistamine drops in the hope of keeping it from coming back (I’ve had two really bad episodes this past month).
On another note, it was REALLY HOT yesterday:

It may be an update, but to reboot on the CH3 itself, I go to ‘settings’, then ‘about’ and then I can scroll to the bottom to find the ‘reboot device’ button.

Music in the Park
I don't know if this is a big thing everywhere, but in our neck of the woods every community has a summer concert series or Music in the Park concerts once a week. They are always in the paper and typically consist of a local band giving a free show. This particular band was more on the hard rock side and was louder then normal. So Talia and I sat on the other side of the street. This is the closest thing to a big event I've done this week. My husband has been gone traveling this week, so I've spent alot of time walking the dogs and have 4 days in this week where I hit over 10,000 steps. I'm pretty sure that is a record for me! (Unfortunately, I also had 2 migraine days where I didn't even it 3,000 steps on those days!)

Between the long weekend I had and the heat/humidity, I did not move a bit. Definitely not what I had planned for my mini-stay-cation. Hopefully I can get back on track the rest of this week and salvage the mini binge I had during the heatwave.
