Best AnswerI have read articles about it but I have not read the book. I have used it for my cardio, although, I don't exercise for strictly 5 minutes. I would warm up for 5 minutes, than fast exercise for about 5 minutes, rest for another 5 and continue the pattern for 30 minutes to an hour. I burned about 300 or 600 calories, respectively and it felt like a great work out. Currently, I have started a 2 routines where I only exercise for 5 minutes one being a series of plank positions and the other I just do mountain climbers during the 20 seconds interval. The first week I tried them I was really sore and still felt some soreness into the second week! I had no idea I was that out of shape or maybe it does work the body as much as a 1 hour more brutal session. Its only the second week and I already feel a little more muscle in my thighs (through the squish of course. still have alot of fat to lose). I think any 5-10 minute tabata or HIT workout you find should do the same trick. You can find them on youtube or pop sugar's fitness site.
