Fenix 3 sync with FitBit

I pretty new to FitBit and I love it so far. As the weather starts to cool off in Florida, I will be doing more outside running instead of r a treadmill.  I plan to use my Charge HR all day but I would like to try the new Fenix 3 from Garmin to get accurate details of my run.  I also saw there is a site linked on this site Fitdatasync that looks like this might work. Does anyone have experience with doing this?

Hi @sweetsdream

I had Fitdatasync set up a few years back but turned it off because it was overwriting the steps my fitbit recorded (the mileage recorded by the garmin was being added to fitbit as a manual step entry which calculated steps based on my stride length, which then overwrote the steps my fitbit recorded.  This can be bad because fitbit doesn't count steps from manual step entries in awarding badges and in fitbit step competitions you start on your phone app (work week challenge etc.)).

One thing that has worked OK is to link both Garmin and Fitbit to My Fitness Pal.  The garmin activity (run bike ride or whatever) is sent to MFP, and then is picked up by Fitbit as an activity, but only the calories carry over -- the steps are not overridden.

I've haven't tried Fitdatasync for a while, so it may have been updated.  You should be able to tell if it the garmin activity is overwriting your steps because if it is, the daily step graph on the computer will be flat for the period of the activity -- like this one from about 10 to 11:30 (which was created today when my walk was pushed to Fitbit through Strava).
