Finally found it!

Hi,folks!

I'm new to this community. Please excuse me if this post is not at the right place.

I bought the charge hr on the 14th of April. We are now the 22nd and i finally found the place to post stuff.

8 days...lol. way too long and way to complicated.I'v had a question that i've been wanting to ask since day one and i cant find the place to post it,and i'm still not sure if what i'm writting now is ok or, will it even appear in the community? I'm no computer whiz, but i've been in forums elsewhere before and in no way were they this complicated and frustrating.

I searched how to ask a question, wich explained it well but, when i searched for my question and found no satisfying results, there is supposed to be an icon(ask community) wich never appeared so,i could not ask my question.Maybe my settings are'nt set correctly? I do not know.

some help with this would be appreciated.

So far i have no complaints with the product itself.Apart from sleep tracking wich is weird and innacurate.

Motivation is augmented  with this product and the visual dashboard is exactly what i needed to see and track results.

That being said,i would like to ask the community a question concerning the dilution of sugary powdered drinks.

How would i go about doing that?

Do i use the same method as i am right now?

Please help! Thank you!

You have "a question concerning the dilution of sugary powdered drinks"?

Answer is, don't use sugary powdered drinks, as they are full of empty calories,

and have all kinds of adverse effects on your body. Consider them as "poison".

Hi,yarddog!

Tx. for your reply.

First,i totally agree with you. There is definetely more water in my future.

Unfortunately i'm addicted to Coca-Cola and not just 2-3 cans a day.Try 2-4 litres a day.I've been doing that for several years now and it's enough.I'm actually fed up of it,i actually do'nt want any for the first time since who knows when so, that's good news.I just need something to smooth over the transition and make things easier.I'll be drinking nothing but water, milk and natural juices by the month of July.

Seconly,my actual question about sugary powdered drinks is:

I use Nestea iced tea with 50% less sugar. They say 1/2 cup in 1,25L(1250 ml) water = 180 cals.

I make mine 1/2 cup in 2L(2000ml) wich if my calculation is correct makes 128 cals. wich i divide into 6 333ml glasses for 21.3 cals per glass as 1 serving.Does that make any sense? Now if i drink the whole 2L in that same day, have'nt i still ingested the whole 1/2 cup 180 cals of powder no matter how much water i dilute it with? But if i drink only 1 glass a day its considered like1 serving 333ml =21.3 cals.

WOW i'm stumped!

Any help will be appreciated.

Your suspicion is correct. If you ingest that 1/2 cup, you get the full 180 cals. Since water doesn't have any calories, the amount of water you use for your mix doesn't make any difference in the amount of calories, just in the flavor - how much you water it down. If you divide the 1/2 cup into 6 equal servings, each serving has 30 cals.

Hi,Jileha!

tx. for replying,

First,i agree with the first part 1/2 cup equals 180 cals. no matter what amount of water.IF i drink the whole thing. So it's about the amount of powder,i also agree.

OK,if i want to make the recipe on the can 1/2 cup in 1250ml of water and instead of putting the 1/2 cup in water,i physically seperate the powder for 3 glasses of 333ml + 1 glass of 251ml.So i have 4 piles of powder on my counter.Ok so far?

Now,if i make my diluted version 1/2 cup in 2000ml of water and i again, physically seperate the powder for 6 glasses of 333ml with a couple of mls to spare.Would you agree that, there is less powder in each glass of my diluted version then there is in the original recipe, therefore, reducing the number of calories per glass? does it matter if i mix the glasses seperately or put everything in a 2L bottle?

If the recipe says 4 teaspoon for 250ml of water and i only put 2 teaspoons in 250ml of water,i definetely ingested only half of the powder and the calories that go with it.But if i drink the other 2 teaspoons in 250ml of water then,it's the full amount of powder and the calories that go with it.See where i'm getting at?

Anyways it's just one of those things!Smiley Happy

Why do I get the feeling I'm back in my math class, the teacher trying to explain something and me going: huh? LOL!

Let me see if I can follow you...
I get the four piles of powder on your counter. Four piles = four servings with 45 cals each. 4 x 45 = 180
Now you want to distribute the same amount of powder (1/2 cup) into 6 servings instead of four? In this case, yes, each serving would have only 30 cals: 6 x 30 = 180.

What matters is how many servings do you drink of your first batch and how many of your second batch. If you drink all four servings of the first and all six servings of the second, you will ingest the full 180 cals in total both times. If you drink four servings of the second batch (4 x 30), you ingest less calories. The only thing that matters is the amount of powder per serving, and in your first batch, the piles are smaller than in your second. Whether you divide the powder into little piles and mix each serving individually or put the entire 1/2 cup into the water doesn't matter. You could also follow the recipe and mix 1/2 cup into 1250ml and divide that into six servings. You'd get the same amount of cals per serving (30, for a total of 6 x 30) as if you'd mix 1/2 cup into 6 gallon of water and divide that into six servings of 1 gallon each. The amount of powder in each serving is the same. And you'd get the same amount of calories per serving if you make six piles first (6 x 30 cals) and mix them into six individual gallons of water and drink all of it.

If you have six eggs, hard boil them and eat them one after the other or if you make an omlette out of these six eggs and eat the entire omlette, you still end up having eaten the same amount of eggs with the same amount of calories (if you discount any calories added from fat used for frying the omlette).

Hi,Jileha

Tx for replying

ughh,math class lol!

Ok let's try this:

180 cals divided by 1250mls =0.144 cals per mls.

180 cals divided by 2000mls =0.09 cals per mls

Maybe this is where i am wrong, maybe i'm not supposed to calculate it like that i do'nt know? thats why i'm asking.

Where we do'nt see eye to eye is the actual amount of calories per glass if i make my diluted version,it comes to 21.3 cals per glass of 333mls and not 30 cals per 333mls glass because 30 cals is for 250mls of water and not 333mls but if i drink all 6 glasses in the same day then, its the full 180 cals.Do'nt forget that,on the can,1 serving is actually 250 mls=1 cup of water for 30cals in 250 mls. and not 333mls.

Anyways, i think i'm going to put this one to rest, because the actual calorie difference between the 2 is not enough to make a fuss about .I just wanted to as precise as possible

If you want to continue this conversation,go right ahead. If anybody else wants to chime in and give it a crack, you are more than welcome.Meanwhile i will search online to see if this makes any sense.

Tx. for your help Jileha!

@Pat7  While I understand your need to be exacting in your calorie count, it's not always easy. There will be days when you eat everything on your plate and there will be times when you leave a few spoonfuls untouched. Trying to figure out the calories precisely would be a lot of work, not to mention stressful.

Are you trying to lose weight or just want to keep an accurate account of calories consumed?

Remember you don't have to change your life in one big swoop. Sometimes those baby steps are what help make the difference in your lifestyle.

Don't worry about how many calories are in the diluted powered drinks, but give yourself credit for a sincere desire to make positive changes in your life.

Welcome to the forums.

@Pat7 OK the math here isn't that hard but I am totally lost what you are trying to do. I suggest you do make up the big bottle and keep it simple.
Now, sometimes you want that sugary drink so take it from your mix. You know how many calories are in there.

Sometimes you are just thirsty and your habit is the sugary drink. So, try substituting something else. Here are my suggestions

1) low fat milk
2) coconut water
3) protein shake.

So, take a glass. Put your mix in. Throw that down the sink. Put the good drink from the list in the empty glass. Enjoy.

Hopefully you are exercising as well as dieting, and you need those good things or you are going to feel tired and depleted.

Pretty soon it will seem wasteful to throw that mix down the sink so you can dilute it more or stop buying it.

Congratulations on this, sounds like you made great strides already on getting off sugar water.
Oh, I forgot another good one is plain water. You can get that if you are dining out, instead of soda.

Hi folks!

First off.Thanx to everybody for your reply's,suggestions and encouragements. It's appreciated!

Secondly.Forget everything i said up to now because i realized i made a mistake in my quantities and calculations.I am very sorry to have brought in a question with inexact facts,it was not intentional.

I will now ask the question (DOES DILUTING POWDERED DRINKS CHANGE THE CALORIE CONTENT PER GLASS?)

And i will answer the question with my theory of what i think the answer is.Based on my own experiences and some internet research.

The answer is (YES IT DOES)(the number of calories per milimeters)

The recipe on the can says: 1/2 cup of powder for 5 cups or 1250ml of water = 150 calories.

So,5 glasses of 1 cup or 250ml of mixed tea at 30cals per glass  x  5 glasses = 150 calories.

My diluted recipe is : 1/2 cup of powder for 8 cups or 2000ml of water = 150 calories

So,8 glasses of 1 cup or 250ml of mixed tea at 18.75cals per glass  x  8 glasses = 150 calories.

Unless someone has a better theory,i'm going to have to go with this one for now.

I think its a Huge victory for me considering my cola filled past. And i also realize that water is the better choice.Do'nt worry i'll eventually get there. It's like quitting smoking or drugs it's very hard going cold turkey.
