Fitbit 3 I'm walking how far?

ANSWERED

My fit bit 3 shows me walking much farther than I actually do and to a point the information is useless. I sometimes carry my I phone that tracks walking and the fitbit shows twice the distance. I also walk on trails at times that are measured. How do I get my fitbit to accurately measure my distances?

@Hitdrums if you carry your phone, you may want to enable GPS connect which will track exactly how far and where you are walking. This should give you the accuracy you are after.

Hi @Hitdrums. Welcome to the forum. I'd love to help you resolve your issue, but first I need to understand the type of Fitbit you have. For example, Charge 2, Versa, Flex 2, Alta HR. Once I know what tracker you are using I may be able to provide some tips to accuracy.

@HitdrumsI will chime in here... I have found over the years you need to "exercise" walk over a measured distance and with the wrist type Fitbits definitely have that "exercise" effort of arm movement.

I do my testing over a measured walk like an athletic track. manually counting the steps to compare with the Charge 3 detection of your steps.   If you do a 10 minute walk with your phone and GPS (Mobile Track) it should calculate the stride length for you.

If you haven't entered your stride length (one step measured) Fitbit divides your height by a factor to give you an estimated stride length.  On that basis it's important your height is accurate.

Se how you go..
