Fitness plan

I am a 72 year young man in good shape. 6ft and 160 lbs. I have a clean bill of health. I had a cardio workup by the Doc last June of 2025. I do not presently have any consistent exercise plan and would like to start one. I just connected my bicycle to a trainer. I also have in my possession some free weights. Any advice would be welcome. Thank you.

Hello @Chasbeck

Which Fitbit device are you using? Are you using the Personal Coach Public Preview version of the Fitbit app?

@Chasbeck I've moved this discussion to the Get Moving board because that is a better fit for this topic.

Hello @Chasbeck

The Personal Coach Public Preview is a new version of the Fitbit app, which uses an "AI-powered coach...designed to function as a fitness trainer, a sleep coach, and a health and wellness advisor". This blog post (<-- click) has more information about this.

The Public Preview allows qualifying users to try out this version of the app while it is still a work in progress. It might be something to consider for your fitness plan.

@Chasbeck   I just want to add that the Personal Health Preview is currently only available to Android phone users.

It’s inspiring to see you starting this at 72, especially with a clean bill of health! Since you have a bike trainer and weights, the key is consistency. I actually found some great ideas for structuring health goals in this article about wellness challenges https://betterme.world/articles/wellness-challenges-for-employees/ Even though it’s written for office environments, the principles of setting daily habits and tracking progress are perfect for someone building a new routine from scratch. Good luck with the training!

Fitbit just expanded the Personal Coach Public Preview to iOS and to additional countries.  It is a Premium feature, however.  So this feature is very new to me, just a couple days.  So far, it is holding me more accountable.
