Food Log Lacking

New to the fitbit community Smiley Happy

Hopefully not just myself that noticed, but the food log options are a bit lack luster? I've been using My Fitness Pal for quite some time now and I really enjoy being able to log my macros and all the specific food details. Is this something that is available for the fitbit flex and I'm just not seeing it? Or is it a premium thing?

**Update** Fished around on the online dashboard and found where you can manually edit the foods....it's a shame we can't do this on the android app though Smiley Sad

Totally agree. After I got the FitBit, I stopped using MFP and began logging my food on the FITBit app. That lasted about 2 days. I am back to using MFP for food logging and I have it syncing the food data back to FitBit. It works great.

Hey there @cutedebbie and @Ozzie65 ! I am a MFP logger as well Cat Happy

Just as a tip:

  • If you are logging meals, log them through MFP only.
  • If you are logging manual workouts, log them through Fitbit Only.

This will prevent getting double records or wiping your caloric burn data and active minutes.

Question for ya. I as well log my food through MFP only and when logging I find that my calories left will read zero on fitbit if I log one thing or if i've logged nothing. Maybe I'm doing something wrong. Any suggestions?

The Calories Left discrepancy is an issue that has received some reports. Our developers are aware of this issue. They'll investigate further and see what can be done to implement a fix. For updates, I recommend staying tuned to this thread.

@HelenaFitbit - Thanks for those tips. I hadn't used MFP for 7 months, but started back today because I like their database so much better. I'm happy to know the "correct" way to integrate the two.

You are very welcome @yldthng ! The very best tip to use MFP is to use a food scale instead of meassuring cups Smiley Happy

Sadly I'm waiting for Fitbit to update their Barcode Logging. 95% of the products they have don't have barcode logging. Gotta scan them, photo everything, submit, and log your foods as usual.
