My goal is to eat as much organic food as possible and keep out sugar and refined processed foods as well as add excercise everyday. I walk and intend to run laps in the gym and lift weights.

me too.. I started the raw diet in 2011 and I was so healthy. Howerver, this is a hard diet to stick to with members of the family and friends that find it too difficult, this made me fall off the wagon. This year I seem to have most of the family on board and we all agree to eliminate processed food and sugar. So back to natural organic food for us.. I think 75% raw is maintainable, cooking some meals or part of is acceptable helps for a broader diverse meal plan.
Good luck..

you make a good point. But, I tend to fail when it comes to moderation. No matter what I do I have to give it my all. I find it so much easier to stick to a main concept, once moderation comes into it I fail. My husband is a moderation guy, a little chocolate does no harm. Unfortunately, once I steer away from my path I'm gone. I have always been that way. I am determind to follow my path of healthy eating, no sugar or processed food and plenty of exercise.. I know if I make this my lifestyle I will be ok. My health is my goal. At 53 I can run with my grandchildren, I'd like to give them healthy memories of me. We can't control everything about our health but, I'd like to think that I take responsibility for myself.
Each to their own, support from this community plays a significant part in motivation and information. Some people need moderation in fact I think most people. Moderation helps take away the presure. (Trust me to be a minority)
Thanks for your input,

Big changes in Beth's and my nutrition "lifestyle" were:
-Getting rid of processed foods
-Buying fresh fruits, veggies, nuts
-No pasta
-Lots and lots of water
-No soft drinks
-Fresh meat cuts at the store meat counter (skinless/boneless thighs, filets, salmon, trout, catfish (all broiled on our BBQ out back with lemon juice and Herbs de Provence), butterfly porkchops - all between 3-6 ozs after cooking
No more than 3 ozs of microwave steamed veggies per dinner
Fresh raspberries (one small container with a Yoplait plain yogurt) for lunch
Pulp OJ for breakfast (8 ozs)
I'm sorry. I just can't do vegan....
