Is there a way to somehow see who in your area has a fitbit so you can add them as friends ?

You could look for fitbit activity groups in your area, other than that there isn't a way you can search for fitbit users in your area.

Or you could walk the streets, seeing who has a Fitbit on their wrist. 🙂

Seriously, I'm friends with several co-workers who also have Fitbits. And I've added friends of those friends who are in the area.

How do I look for a fitbit group in my area?

Go to the fitbit website, go to dashboard, then on the community tab click on activity groups. Just type in your area and you may find a fitbit group for your area with people you can discuss and compete with, within that group.
