I'm doing my 4th half maraton in october (last one was over 2 years ago). I thought it would be fun to find other fitbit users who are also doing a race in October because I know now is when most start training. I live in Colorado and will be doing the Rock and Roll half with a goal time of 2.5 hours.
Brand new to the entire Fitbit world, but have constantly been an athlete my entire life. From running track in high school and college to playing basketball everyday. I am interested in running in a marathan myself. That would be an ultimate test, one that i would enjoy facing.
Best AnswerDo it!
Best AnswerWow 2 back to back! You are crazy! 🙂
Best AnswerVery exciting! You can do it!
Best AnswerYeah, I asked myself if I was crazy when I signed up for the second one. Then I figured that it would be like running a full marathon in two phases with a month break in between each 🙂 I had signed up for the one in Nov before I found out about the Hokie half marathon in Oct and since that one is at the university I went to I had to do it.
Best AnswerHow do you train for hills? I live where its flat, but the half-marathon will have some hills. How often do I need to work out on hills to be ready for the challenges of San Francisco's hills?
Best AnswerDo you have access to a tredmill? My trainer told me I only have to do 1 day a week of hill training. She told me 30-60 mins and you alternate the incline and the speed 6 to 12 times for the amount of time you are on it.
Best AnswerI don't have a treadmill, but I do have Lake Chabot to run around, and I can easily get out there on the weekends. I did 40 minutes out there yesterday up and down the hills. I'm using the "Half Marathon Trainer - Run for PINK by Zen Labs LLC" app and so far it is working for me. Just finished Week 1.
Best AnswerI am training for the Women's Half in Nashville Tn on Sept 27th! It will be my 4th half. 🙂 Good luck with your training!
You are really making me think! Hmmm. I do have that itch again!

Best AnswerI am doing the Rock and Roll half in October also, but I am doing it in LA. I think I am not going to start my long runs on the weekend until September. It is just too HOT here in California.
Best AnswerMrs. L, where in California are you? I'm in Sacramento, and I totally get the heat problem!

I am in Southern California (Orange County), so your area is hotter than my area. Sacramento gets SO hot in the summer. However, it is a beautiful city. I would love to jog around the capital building and the Sacramento River.
Best AnswerWhen I read this post I thought, "Did I post that?" LOL.
I just did my 4th half marathon yesterday in the past two years. I love running..... well, I actually hate running, but I love how I feel when I am finished. My goal was to finish in 2.5 hours. I did it in 2:32. Oh well, there is always next time. Hope you did well!!!
