So I have been wearing fitbit for a while now and I have noticed when I'm sick my heart rate spikes up to 130-140 just walking around my house. My resting is usually 73 but is now about 110. I have read that increased heart rate can be caused by sickness but I am also getting a ton of active zone minutes and increased calories burned because of my increased heart rate. Are the calories burned accurate? They are comparable to when I do an hour of brisk walking and all I have done is minimal walking around the house which doesn't seem right, is the hesrt rate throwing it off?

Hello @Ccw90
The calories computation is affected by the heart rate, which is somewhat logical. Now this is just an estimation anyway and while using heart rate data lead to a better precision, it is not perfect. But it gives you the right trend: you burn more calories when sick. I guess it is not unusual for you to lose some weight when sick: less active but higher heart rate and usually less calories intake.

@Ccw90 hey there and welcome to the community. I think it is normal that HR goes up when one is sick since your body is busy fighting off infection in addition to what you are already asking it to do. If you are concerned that it is outside of normals for you, give your GP a call. Better to be safe than sorry. And I am hoping you are feeling better by now!
