I'm new to using fitbit in its entirety. I used to have a Nike GPS watch, but I broke it.
I figured why not try something new and went with the Fitbit Surge!
I was wondering what your is everyones favorite kind of workout/run pattern!?
What do you guys like to do more?
What kind of music do you listen to while you're exercising?

I don't run, because I don't think my knees could take the pounding at this point in my life, but I do a lot of really brisk walking and work out on an exercise bike. My favorite kind of music to listen to while I bike is something really up tempo, to get my feet moving faster. When I walk, I tend to do it with someone, and have long conversations, which makes the time pass quickly. I love this time of year, because it's now cool enough to spend time out doors.

Hi @EpicTortillas - Welcome! I am a former Nike watch user also! I run 3 - 4 times per week - 25 - 30 miles per week, depending on what's happening. I rarely listen to music when I run. I generally listen to either books on tape or PodCasts. Occasionally I will shake things up and put on some classic rock!
Hi @EpicTortillas! That's an awesome user name, btw...
Check out this thread about music favorites! You'll see just about everything over there...
My personal favorite workout pattern is generally the walk/run patterns, like what Jeff Galloway does. I'm currently training for a half-marathon, but the Texas humidity/heat combo (up until the past couple of weeks, anyway) really prevents you from keeping a solid run... On my normal running trail, someone passed out about a month ago because of the heat. Yikes!

Hi @EpicTortillas. Personally, I don't like listening to music when working out, whether indoors or outdoors. I find that it takes my focus off the training/workout. And if I want to listen to music, I get more enjoyment out of it if that's all I do, listen.
I try to vary my workouts as much as possible, although weather often seems to throw a monkey wrench here and there. I do a lot of bicycling, outdoors most of the year; and I use the stationary bike during the winter months. I do walk/jog intervals, weight training, punching bag aerobics workout, resistance band training, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing, rowing machine workout, and I step in place with every commercial while watching TV in the evening. ![]()
My pattern is a daily cardio (never the same two days in a row), and strength training (never the same muscle group two days in a row), 15-min ab work every single day, and step in place during TV commercial every single day (yeah, I wish!
)
Whenever I do walk/jog/rowing workouts, I always incorporate an interval scheme of sort, alternatving between peak and normal speed in two-minute segments. I find this very beneficial to keep fatigue at bay, and it also causes my heart rate to go through a series of peaks and valleys that contribute to a higher caloric burn.
Hope this helps. Have a great day.
