High Heart Rate

ANSWERED

Hi everyone! I'm male, 24 years old, 182 cm, 90 KG, completly out of shape... Sitting way too much and eathing lots of "strong" food, also junk food and sugar. When I'm sitting, my hear rate is 80-88. As soon as I stand up my hear rate goes up to 100. Doing something like just walking around my house, my hear rate will be 108. Almost always my hear rate goes up by 15-24 (sometimes 26) from sitting to standing. After eating my heart rate also goes to 92-96, not always. I started walking for 1 hour everyday and my hear rate is 130 while walking. What's your toughts on this? Thanks!

I do have mitral valve prolapse with trace regurgitation. My cardiologist said it's nothing. Just regular check-ups.

Your fitness and cardiovascular health will improve over time, as you exercise regularly (walking is a great form of exercise, especially when starting very out of shape and overweight), improve your diet and start dropping some weight.

I had the same problem a few years back.

I was getting close to 240 lbs. at 5'8"

my resting heart rate was in the high 80's

my standing heart rate would break 100

my walking heart rate got into the 130's

I was 57 then.

I'm 60 now, and have lost over 50 lbs.

my resting heart rate is in the high 50's to low 60's

my standing heart rate is in the 70's

and my walking heart rate is around 100, unless I'm power walking at 4 mph or faster, then it gets into the 120's.

I have been exercising pretty much every day for the past 3 years, and started adding running to my workouts over the past year. Now my power walks are sort of recovery walks.

As mentioned, your heart rate will go down as your fitness level goes up. A good rule of thumb is to keep your heart rate in the cardio zone for 30 minutes non stop 5 days a week (30 minutes 3 days is the bare minimum). That will give you a good training effect, and you can increase that as you get more fit.

A training effect is what will improve your cardio fitness level.

@LiccoITAwork on your fitness walking first.  As @Dominique said, with consistent exercise you'll eventually see that heart rate drop.  I used to walk quickly to the shipping area in our plant and it would push me into the peak zone for a short period of time.  Doing it day after day, week after week, and eventually it got to the point where I couldn't even get into the cardio zone.  You know the saying... walk before you run.  🙂

Little update: My cardiologist told me to take Propranolol and I did it. Taking it for 2 months and I love it.

With Propranolol I have 50-60 BPM when sitting and when I do something like walking fast, etc. I don't get more then 100 BPM.

So yeah, I can enjoy my life now, eating whatever I want, sitting as long as I want and still having normal blood pressure and good heart rate. And yeah, I hate sports. Bye.
