How do I get my Versa 2 to track all of my steps when pushing a stroller or shopping cart?

I have a toddler, and we go for walks in the evening. Naturally, she can't walk the full distance so I push her in the stroller. I have noticed that the tracker doesn't track all of my steps. I know this because my count was different when I walked prior to having to push the stroller. I also noticed it doesn't catch all your steps when you push a shopping cart through the store (grocery) because your arms aren't always swinging or whatnot. Is there a specific activity I should be choosing or something I need to do differently? Tips, tricks, or thoughts?

That's a common issue, also with holding hand rail on treadmill.  Unfortunately Fitbit cannot detect steps with wrist held steady.

3 options:

1) Continue as is, knowing you are getting heart rate-base data including calorie burn and Zone Minutes.

2) Put tracker in a pocket to probably get better step count but lose heart rate data.

3) Some have bought third-party strap extender (Amazon) and wear just above ankle.  That should give good step count, and some say they can also get heart rate data if placed just right.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.

I'll check out the third-party extender. Thank you for the feedback!

@AllieSlayton or you can look silly like I do in the grocery store pushing or pulling the cart with one hand. I also see moms walking with one arm stroller pushing which I have to think is a very intense workout. 🙂 Whatever you choose, just remember you are doing good things for yourself even though the "credit" isn't showing.
