I live about four miles from my workplace and although I haven't yet walked all four miles to or from work, there are a few games I play during the week to increase my stepcount.
Some days I'll take the hillier, windier, unnecessarily long route to BART (San Francisco's heavy-rail rapid transit system). Almost always, I forgo the escalator for the stairs. Today, that act alone added 5 flights of stairs and over 250 steps to my morning journey.
My other favorite "cheat" is high stepping in place. Sure, I may look a little odd bouncing up and down while typing at my makeshift standing desk, but it feels good to keep the blood flowing and the legs moving!
What do you do to get your extra steps in?

Oh thank you so much, it has been a horrible few days but I am getting back to it. I usually average around 15K steps a day, and run every day so I feel like I am doing nothing, but I guess I am doing pretty well considering! I have awful bruises and my legs were so swollen - they have calmed down now but they really took the brunt of it. It could have been worse - they could be broken so I am happy with it but it is frustrating. Thanks for the support, much appreciated! Take care xx

Love that Ali! Will certainly get working on that once I am back to rights! My current target is 30 flights a day - will up that for sure.

Woohoo nice work Zee! Only managed 6 yesterday - I was at work most of the day and the building is all one floor so nothing there. Did the 6 at home! Just back from a 1 mile walk - my legs are improving and although still painful, nowhere near as bad as they were. I am getting back to rights slowly. Working at home today and tomorrow to reduce the effort a bit, as being at work was shattering me.

Hi Zee sorry I must have missed the message. Doing OK thanks, walking better again today but still sore. Check up at the doctors tomorrow afternoon which will be good to make sure I am on track.
