How to gain muscle

I am looking to put on about 15lbs of muscle and I was wondering if there are any tips apart from the obvious that will help me get to this goal.  The only wrench in the works is that I hate protein shakes. Any help would be gratefully appreciated. Thanks! #neversettling

Lift weights, heavy weights, using compound lifts (squat, deadlift, overhead press).

If you want something to grow, you have to feed it. If it's a muscle, it doesn't have to be a protein shake, but it has to be protein of some sort.

Get a bunch of sleep.

Lift heavy, but don't forget accessory exercises. If you want to look "cut", favor bodybuilding routines. If you want to look strong, go for lower rep work.

Expect to gain a little fat along the way. Nobody can add all muscle, no fat. Your diet can help swing it more towards the muscle growth. Aim for 0.7-1.0 gram of protein per pound of lean bodyweight. Chicken is your friend.

Expect it to take 8-12 months.

Eat like there's no tomorrow.

Listen to @Annabel398's advice. Rippetoe knows barbell training like no other. For more bodybuilding style, Jeff Nippard is pretty good.

Work out...eat... sleep...repeat!
