Hi 👋
I have found out I have hyper mobility syndrome from a physio and never realised before.
I have boxed for about 7 years and gave up a couple of years ago for running, I have taken part in marathons and half marathons as well as 10 mile runs etc
I suffered with calf pain which healed as quick as it came back, finally I went to see a physio who diagnosed me hyper mobility and referred me to a podiatrist who then confirmed.
Im having custom orthotics made so I can continue to run, I’m just really unhappy about the whole situation.
Id really like to hear from anyone else with hyper mobility especially if you run.
thanks!

Yes I’ve been given about 8 exercises and a pair of orthotics to start me off.
although I’ve had the excerises since April/May and a few different ones for the bosu.
I was told I could do some short runs using the orthotics so I could get used to the high arch but they are so uncomfortable I’m going to wait until I pick my new pair up.
Do you have experience with hyper mobility @USAF-Larry ?

@Lisa.g hey there. I don't have any experience with it, but I do have experience with aches and pains as a result of overuse from running and walking. I know it isn't the same thing.. but I guess to me pain is pain. I am learning to take breaks and be smart about the abuse I heap on my knees and feet. I completely empathize with you. It is a struggle between what you want to do and what you know you should do. Keep working with your doctor, follow their advise and take care of yourself....

Hi and thanks for your reply,
I use compression to help relive pain for me, I have tried so many compression calf sleeves. Skins are best for running and kalanji are good for everyday.
skins also have good compression tights or leggings much better than brands like 2xu.
my physio isn’t keen on compression as he says it masks the original symptoms but my podiatrist says compression is essential but doesn’t work for all, so I guess it’s up to personal opinion.
I recently ordered a pair of brooks running shoes and so far I have only had minimal pain in my calf, I feel like I’m learning new things all the time with hyper mobility and it’s not bothering me so much anymore. Initially I was upset especially from what I had read on the internet about hyper mobility but I’m learning what works for me doesn’t always work for someone else, so all in all it’s symptoms seem personal person to person but it doesn’t seem like there are many people in the Fitbit community who are hypermobile!
