Just my take on the supposed new fitbits

For my self and previewing the newest generation of fitbits I am going to be a bit disappointed. Appears fitbit is getting away from what has made them number one in the industry of the units that are easily daily able to be concealed such as the Original, Ultra and ONE. Appears for now they will keep the one but apparently those of us that wish to use that type unit will be left out and thrown to the garbage. For those of us that has been with fitb it since the beginning trial and tribulations people cursing them threatening them and all else we stood steadfast with them and this is what we will get. I could care less about healthkit junk or anything else for that nature. But I do believe the concealed units should have more upgrades to keep them in line with the wrist units. Sorry folks f the pictures floating the Internet are what they will be they are way to clunky looking and exactly why so many people have gone to and stuck with fitbit over so many other competitors. Again the squeakiest wheel gets the grease the rest of us will either have to succumb to the others or get out of the health gadgets  period. Also the apparent price range will knock this unit totally out of range for many of us on limited incomes. All I can say is I truly hope the reports and pictures are wrong. Just not having the warm fuzzy feeling that they are though. Thanks for the great times team @Fitbit was great while it lasted.  Craig

It is my hope that Fitbit is only going through some growing pains, Craig.

Craig, we are in total agreement.  I keep looking for an update to the One that will make it unbeatable.  I don't and will not ever, wear gadgets or even jewelry on my wrist .  Seeing the new Fitbit lineup makes me feel a bit betrayed.  I'm loyal to Fitbit, but Fitbit doesn't seem loyal to me.

If they treat us as an afterthought . . . well . . . like you, I'm not having the warm, fuzzy feeling about Fitbit. And I guess I'll show Fitbit as much loyalty as they show me.

They seem to be forgetting that a lot of us want the  most accurate device and may not want to wear it on our wrist (where I don't see how it can be as accurate, I tried a Flex and it wasn't!!) I had an Ultra and now a One but yes the One could use improvements Fitbit... the clip is bulky and breaks too often.. help us!

$$$$ and it does not look improved as far as the design. Spend 300 $ to lose it.

If Im going to do this it will be a much cheaper Model Viofit. Garmin has always been a good product

@Craig I hear your frustration on this! One of Fitbit's main offerings is a variety of trackers for a variety of lifestyles. The One is not going anywhere; we'll still be supporting it. Our team will continue to develop products always with the diverse needs of our customers in mind. We truly strive to take an approach to fitness that is not "one size fits all," and we understand that customers value different product features. Our new products will offer various features for a diverse clientele. Thanks for the feedback, @Craig !

I get what you are saying and I also love my One and would like to see continued updates on the clip-on devices.  However, I think with the Charge, Charge HR and Surge what we are seeing is a replacement of the Force and two devices that include heartrate tracking capabilities which I have seen users asking for in the forums for a while.  It makes sense that anything that tracks the heartrate would be worn next to the skin and the clip-on style trackers physically can't track that.

@WhystleStop I understand; the concealable clip-on trackers are definitely a great option and the preferred choice of many users. Do you have any specific ideas about the features you would seek in a new clip-on tracker, aside from those already offered by the One? If so, I'd definitely advise contributing to an existing Feature Request or creating a new one; our Product Management team routinely reviews the boards to get an idea of what users want out of their Fitbit trackers.

@smhermione Thanks for that input! It's true; the heart rate feature of the Charge HR and Surge would be difficult to implement in clip-on form. Not everyone does want to wear something around their wrist, but these products were specifically developed with Fitbit users in mind. 🙂

Indeed, we want the same things on our lanyardable or clip-on Fitbits -- the Fitbits that the company is based on -- to be just as up-to-date with the same features (keeping the good chargeability and ease of use that the clip-ons have enjoyed) as the new ones that seem to be focused on trying to compete with the new gadgets by other companies.  I want to stay with Fitbit because they are the best and have the best website so far.  I'm accustomed to Fitbit.  However, if Fitbit doesn't keep me up-to-date and abandons it's original customers and thinks of us as mere afterthoughts . . . it erodes loyalty to Fitbit at a time when it needs only good PR.  And to be so invalidated as to be asked to fill out a feature request is another rusty nail.

I'm very disappointed to see that the ads for fitbit -- the national push -- do NOT include the fitbit.  The only clip-on is the Zip.

I think it would be a big mistake not to stay up to date on the One (or new versions) as that is part of what makes Fitbit different than all the wrist worn trackers on the market. I am not sure which feature the Charge has that I would want on my One??? The main improvement I would like to see with the One is a better clip. I lost my first One because the clip stretched and the device popped out. Fitbit was very kind and replaced it. But that is my only issue with the One. Sometimes changes to the website and interface puzzle me especially when good features are removed. About HRM, I don't think I would want a Fitbit clip on that does this as I imagine it would be similar to the Withings Pulse (which doesn't look that useful to me). I could see Fitbit integrating a bluetooth HRM strap to their Android and Iphone apps. Many apps do this already. I usually use Digifit for this. I would prefer that it could link with a variety of devices though rather than a Fitbit made strap (though I imagine there is a market for a Fitbit HRM strap as an add-on feature). I personally would not want caller ID on my One as I clip it to my bra. I might be interested in a small attractive device that is even more discreet and could be hid inside accessories (thinking something like a Missfit shine or like the Tory Burch necklaces that hide a Flex)-- but only if it was as accurate as my One.

I am sure there is a market for the ChargeHR and Surge. Some people like wrist worn HRMs and many have wanted HRM functions on their Fitbit. I wouldn't mine one myself. I think it would be more attractive to One fans if/when more than one device can be linked to an account.

I find this disappointing also. It makes me fear they will eventually phase out the One before the Zip.
