Ladies--
I am looking for a Protein Shakes that taste good and helps with cravings. Any suggestions? Not looking for a meal replacement though.
I was doing Total Lean which helped with my chocolate craving but that was meal replacement.
Thanks
Stephanie

I'm curious, what does actually protein shakes do? What are they for?

They are mostly based on unsubstantiated nonsense "science", designed to extract your money.
Protein is abundently available in vegetables (and a bit of meat, every now and then, if you want).

Ignore Yard Dog, he cant do maths
Protein shakes are sources of protein, which your body needs to build and repair muscle.
I drink a whey protein, 60g of powder of which 48g is quality protein
I get considerably less muscle pain now than I did before I drank them.
To get the same volume of protein from quinnoa, you woul;d have to consume 340grams (weighed uncooked), or 1500g of kale, and thats without comparing "quality" of protein
Not of that means *YOU* need protein shakes of course.

To be honest mine is just convenient and seems to work for me. I don't have much time for breakfast and found it much easier to drink a protien shake in the morning than try to bring a breakfast to work. The one I take has a lot of vitamins and I've felt better ever since taking it. I've never looked into the science, it just works for me so I stick with it.

For me, it's a combination of convenience and a reasonable form of a macro I'm sometimes lacking.
My SO works odd hours, so he often comes home late, and I work early hours. I don't feel like getting up even earlier (and losing even more time I could be sleeping, which is also important) to get up and cook a healthy breakfast. So I get ready, go to work, and there I can drink a protein shake before everyone else gets in. Also a healthy breakfast, just faster and tastes pretty good too.
I do think protein is important, and I believe I choose my sources wisely. I don't count on the shakes for the majority of my protein. In fact, I probably only have one maybe 3 times per week. The other mornings I either just have coffee or cereal with whole milk, or I have eggs.

They provide a source of protein. Some of us find them helpful in meeting our overall nutritional goals. Others of us find them tasty and a reasonable alternative to a snack that would be less desirable (for nutritional and/or sense of satiety or other personal reasons).

If you don't need the protein, i wouldn't drink a protein shake. Just eat a bit of chocolate (or the thing you crave) and scrap something out of your food habits to balance it out. Chocolate is not bad, just use modoration.

@SunsetRunner: how did you establish you do not get enough protein? What is your weight, how much protein do you eat per day and what kind of exercise do you do?
I was also addicted to (dark) chocolate, to the point I’d eat one bar of 100 grams each day. I’ve managed to get rid of that addiction. I now eat one spoon (8 grams, 30 calories) of cocoa powder with skimmed milk every morning, and I’m content with that.
