Ladies--
I am looking for a Protein Shakes that taste good and helps with cravings. Any suggestions? Not looking for a meal replacement though.
I was doing Total Lean which helped with my chocolate craving but that was meal replacement.
Thanks
Stephanie

I recently went to Sam's Club and got the 5 lb. MuscleTech Vanilla protein they have. I LOVE it! My blender (a HealthMaster Elite that I only had for about a month :() recently broke and so I've just been using my shaker cup to mix it with milk and its STILL just as awesome without ice! It mixes really well, no clumpiness, no bad aftertaste.
I've tried a lot of different proteins over the years and I also like Optimum Nutrition (Get it from Amazon and Save! :)) They have an awesome vanilla bean flavor.
If you're a protein snob and are concerned about taste AND purity, BioTrust Nutrition is the stuff you want but beware, its pretty expensive and you don't get a full container (they only give about half :()- but it does work and when I was using it (while breastfeeding) I did feel the difference in recovery time.
Just an added tidbit - I used to buy chocolate and strawberry variations, but I found that it's better to just get vanilla. If you want it flavored you can just add strawberry or chocolate to vanilla but the reverse isn't true!

I usually drink the Ensure Protein Strawberry. I just saw 2 days ago that Cotsco has the Premier and want to try them, but don't want to commit to 36 bottles unless I like the taste. Walgreens by me had the vanilla and I think it is a little sweet, but drinkable. High protein and low calorie, if that is what you are looking for.
@mike824 How are the chocolate and strawberry flavors? Which is your favorite of the three? Are they still delicious if not cold?

Hey there.....I have been trying numerous shakes for the last year. I am now using Designer Whey double chocolate. I purchase it at the Vitamin Shoppe. It is 100% whey protein, 18G complete protein, 3GFiber, 100 Calories and only 2G of sugar. Be sure to read labels closely on ones labled for women....they seem to always have a much higher sugar content. It doesn't taste "chalky" at all....and I mix mine in a blender bottle with Almond Milk. They also have other flavors....I just prefer Chocolate 🙂

I'm sure the people with "the shakes" are convinced of their use.
However, eating natural produce (complex carbohydrates and a bit of good fat and protein) is best.

So your post inspired me to go out and get a protien shake to try. I am trying the Vanilla Premier Protien shake. It was not very cold when I cracked it open and it was really sweet and I think it would taste way better if it was colder. I had some coffee ice cubes in my freezer so I added some of those and it is delicious! It's like having a sweet iced coffee!

I agree with @SunsetRunner on this, your diet should have enough variety to fill up all of your micros and macros. I drank protein shakes a couple years ago and I only ended up with some liver problems.

A protein shake is a protein shake.
Its job is to increase the protein content of your diet.
I drink them as a cheap and readily available source of protein.
Not quite sure what you mean by "reduce cravings", but you are probably barking up the wrong tree asking for protein shakes
**************************
Ideally yes you should get enough protein from "normal" food, but for people on a diet thats rather impractical and for people on a budget thats rarely affordable.
My whey protein shakes provide 22.5g of protein for the low low cost of 125calories and 28pence,
A 3oz beef steak contains 23g of protein, but 180 calories, and costs a lot more than 28p

I live a busy life and I'm one of those people that I am up an out the door usually with no time to eat right. I grab a protein shake to fill in. I don't use them for extra protein. I can Google liver damage and find that most everything causes it ..coffee..sugar..among them. Here is my problem with the nay-sayers ..My wife has cardiac heart failure and spend the entire month of February in the hospital where the nutritionist planned meals for her..guess what was on the list of things she could have ?? That's right Protein Shakes.. I guess the hospital was trying to poison her if I believed everything I read or heard...

I also agree you do not need a protein shake. If you eat properly you should be getting in the protein that you need. Too much Protein is not a good thing. Get it naturally.
But everyone is different.

I get Body Fortress Whey Isolate chocolate and mix 28 g of that with 8 oz of either dairy or almond milk & 10g of cocoa powder, plus an ice cube or two, in the blender. It's very refreshing. I aim for around 116 g of protein a day, spread out between meals and snacks. HOWEVER, I find that in terms of satiety, I feel much more "fed" if I mix that same amount of protein and cocoa with 227 g ("one cup") of plain greek yogurt. If I have the calories to use, I use whole milk yogurt and if not, fat free.

Hi Stephanie - Not sure what you are searching for - if not wanting a meal replacement. I did read "to help with cravings" but what kind of cravings? Do you want something sweet? Salty (like V8)? There are so many fantastic products out there and many of us have either tried one or use one regularly. Just think if you share a bit more - the community can be a bit more helpful.

When I get to work in the morning, I have a choice of Isopure low carb dutch chocolate, Combat cookies and cream, or Combat cinnamon bun.
If I don't have eggs before I leave, or coffee with cream on the way in, then I just add water to one of those and I'm good until lunch or later. Isopure seems to stay mixed much better than the Combat flavors, but all three taste really good.
I would not use a protein powder as a snack. The ones I see are in the 130-220 range per serving. But that's me. If I want a snack, I'll go for some apple, craisins, nuts, cheese, peanut butter or something else small and available.

I have a Spirutien chocolate shake for breakfast every morning. I've been doing this for years and have felt better since doing it.

Hi @SunsetRunner! Welcome to the community! I tried Lean1 and have loved it! They have free samples (plus the $1.50 shipping) as well, so that's always awesome 🙂 You can get it at smoothie shops, and if you just want a quick snack, you can cut it in half.
Is it chocolate-type cravings that you get, or sugar cravings? If you are just starting with all of this, sugar cravings do tend to hit hard. If that's the case, I posted some tips here.
