I love tv but how do I also get steps in?

Welcome to the forums!

 

I get up every hour and walk around my house to get steps in

 

But I also go for a walk every morning and do the stationary bike.

Just walk around in front of the TV. I've gotten in plenty of steps walking backwards and forwards in front of the TV. I don't think walking in place is as good as walking forward, so, I actually take several steps forward and several steps backward and repeat.

Walk in place during the commercials.

1. Turn off the television. 

2. Get your walking shoes on. 

3. Go outside and start walking. 

4. Whilst you're walking:

 a. See how many different wild animals you can spot. 

 b. See how many different species of bird you can spot.

 c. Count the variety of flowers and trees you see. 

 d. Give a cheery "Hello!" to other walkers you encounter. 

 e. Recite your favourite poetry.

 f. Sing. 

 g. Think about the challenges you face in life and create strategies for either managing them or learning to live with them. 

 h. When you stop for a short rest, focus on your breathing and allow your mind to fall silent. 

 i. Plan your next walk!

5. Get home and realise that walking always is, always has been and always will be a happier, healthier and more fulfilling use of time than staring mindlessly in to the "idiot lantern" in the corner of your room.

I watch Netflix on my phone while using the treadmill at the rec center.  Or if I'm home I just walk around the room while watching TV.

 

That said, I have found that my television habit has diminished the more I do this.

love tv and gamings too.  but, there are times I need to take a break from them.  so just find an hour to go out for a walk.  someplace like a trail, or hiking.  or just walk around the block for an hour.  you can just simply record any shows so you won't miss anything.  once you do that everyday, you'll feel better, and you'll want to do longer walks.  trust me, it's WORTH it!!  oh, and if you have gym memberships, or a tablet, go on the treadmill or stationary bike.  some gyms have tvs around, or you can take your phone or tablet, download Netflix or something, and watch while you're walking on treadmill or on bike.  all you need is an hour!!

I find any workout is more fun with my favourite music. If you like tv and games then you enjoy music. Grab ur phone and Spotify and get out there. I'm a bit of a k-pop Stan. I can enjoy it more out for a jog then just sitting on the couch with YouTube
