Hello,
I was dignosed with lupus about 25 years ago (wow it's been that long) and for the most part I have been able to manage it solely by diet and exercise. There has been a couple of flares that I couldn't get by on my own and had to go on steriods. After each bout with them though I always swear that I'm not going back on them because they seem to do more harm than good. I try to eat healthy ( for the most part) and exercise. I always do better when I am active and eating right, that being said, it is not always the easiest thing to do. But it does work, it just takes consistancy! Hope this is encouraging and if you have any questions, feel free to ask!

I know it has been a long time since your post but I figured I could still share for anyone out there. I was diagnosed with Lupus in 2001. Since then I've been on several medications including steroids. I have always followed a healthy diet and one thing that has made a huge difference on my flareups and the swelling on my joints has been CUTTING OUT GLUTEN from my diet. It has made a huge difference on how I feel and how my flare ups affect me.
Hope this helps,
