ANSWERED

Hello everyone,

I get fit by using the high tempo of my favourite metal songs to either run, spin, or swim (yes I have a waterproof armband and headphones, check amazon).

So, I am looking to make friends with like minded metalheads who want to share how they are inspired or get fit with MEEEEeettttallll!!!

Hi @LordHeathen - fellow metal head (I am typing this whilst listening to the latest Lamb Of God album), nice to meet you! My shuffle is chock full of the best METAL for me to listen to in the gym and the one song that really gets me going is Painkiller by Judas Priest!! Some of my favourites though are Devin Townsend, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Slayer, Cannibal Corpse...mainly the old school bands that have been around for years!! \m/

@LordHeathen Awesome thread! I'm a metalhead as well. I live my life listening to metal; when I wake up, while taking a bath,  when I'm working, when studying, while I'm working out! Try listening to Pantera while working out, it's so helpful and will give that extra energy only metal can provide. Judas Priest, Megadeth, Slayer, Pantera, Anthrax, Helloween, Kreator, Sodom, Death, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Manowar, Motorhead, Iced Earth, Blind Guardian, and many others... the best companion while working out and getting fit! Smiley Very Happy Pleasure to meet you all metalheads. @Absinthe666@Vom

By the way, I'm going to an Iron Maiden gig on March! I'm so happy about it, got my ticket already! |m|

@Absinthe666 @EdsonFitbit Awesome bands! The world of metal is so extensive we just love it. What about those nordic/viking bands like Ensiferum, Finntroll, Wintersun, Eluveitie, Skalmold, Korpiklaani, just to mention a few. I love to listen to those heavy folk songs, it really gives me motivation to seize the day. Right now, I'm listening to a band called Vallorch from Italy, female singer, folky tunes and really heavy. Give it a try!

Seen Iron Maiden 7 times already? Wow, that is awesome. This will be my first time seeing them, I can't wait to see Fear of the Dark live. \m/

@LordHeathen

That is all I listen to when I workout, am in the car, etc. If it's not hard rock or heavy metal, I don't want to hear it! There's nothing better than listening to the guitar wailing and the drums thrashing when I'm running or lifting. I absolutely love Disturbed and FFDP right now!

Best Answer

@SantiR I haven't really listened to the nordic/viking bands as of yet...the few songs I have heard are **ahem** good though - will have to try out some of the bands you have listed! Yeah, Maiden are something else live...they put on one hell of a show!!

@SantiR, @EdsonFitbit, OMG!!! I have gone hulk green with ENVY!!

Awesome pics and thanks for sharing.

Just to add to some of the other comments, I drive lorries and the places I always deliver say they can hear me before they see my lorry, probably Ministy and gangreen hahaha!!

Is it bad that no matter how loud you play metal it is never quite loud enough? Or is this because I am no deaf? LOL!

Best Answer

@LordHeathen Ministry - **ahem** fine band!!! And no, there is no way METAL can be played or heard loud enough!! \m/ The essence and feel of METAL demands it to be played as loud as possible lol!!

It's funny because I have been listening to metal since the '80s.  My mom, a classical musician, was thrilled that it wasn't disco.  The first non-classical concert I ever went to was Queensryche at some arena in Long Beach.

My muscal tastes are all over the map (seriously - some ODD stuff) as far as genres, but now I have grown sons, one of whom listens to metal, just a completely different type of metal than I do.  I'll sometimes text him "Hey, have you ever heard of this band?" and he'll reply "Yeah, I've hung out with them a couple of times."

It's cool seeing the kinds of things that get handed down to your kids, whether you mean to or not.

My running playlist is primarily a swedish power metal band called Sabaton, with a bit of Manowar and Iron Maiden thrown in (Stuff from Rock in Rio and not the newest cd but the one before)

I used to spin to DragonForce

Hello Everyone,

Really good to read about metal, FitBit simply does not have enough places for us like-minded people to hang.

So, I will ruin it now by saying I have recently discovered the following:

Black Veil Brides, Angels and Airwaves, Papa Roach (Please, I am not a poser honestly!)

I discovered this when I gave a lift to a friend and they had left a cd in my car, so I decided to play it and thought yeah pretty good, I also have got into Within Temptation.

However, strapping young lad still gets played to remind me of the real songs that got me into metal!

Best Answer

@DominicJ I love Sabaton, they are awesome. Have you heard a song called "Metal Machine"? They mix several lyrics from other famous metal songs to make one single and unique lyric that makes sense haha, it is great! Take a look at it and let me know if you recognize any of the lyrics there. Smiley Very Happy

@LordHeathen Within Temptation, from Holland, they are great. The female singer is so awesome! I've seen a similar band live called Epica, take a look at them too, they are great! Nightwish is also another great female singer based gothic metal band!

Nightwish, Epica and Within Temptation are ace 🙂

Dont listen to much symphonic metal anymore, I only really listen to music when running.

Sabaton also have an entire song made up of Manowar song titles 🙂
