Hi everyone — I’d love to get some feedback and votes on this idea 😊
I use my Fitbit daily while living with a chronic illness and using a walker for mobility. Right now, Fitbit step tracking is based on wrist movement, and when we use mobility aids like walkers our arms don’t swing as much — which means steps aren’t tracked accurately. This makes it hard for those of us with disabilities to monitor activity reliably.
I’m proposing a “Mobility Aid Mode” or similar accessibility option that would help Fitbit better measure steps and activity for people using walkers, canes, crutches, etc.
Possible ideas could include:
- an option to prioritise hip/leg movement instead of wrist movement
- an adjustable sensitivity for slower gait patterns
- improved accuracy while using manual walking modes / GPS tracking
Accurate activity tracking isn’t just a “nice to have” — for many of us managing chronic illness and pacing, it’s an important part of understanding health, energy, flares, and progress.
If you think this would help too, I’d love it if you could comment or vote to add your support! 💛

Hi @Kasalee I moved your post to the Get Moving forum, a better fit for this topic. You correctly list some of the limitations of wrist worn trackers. The Inspire 3 is designed for wrist or body wear. The downside is that you lose some features in the On Body mode. Unfortunately, you can't prioritize hip movement on a wrist worn tracker.
You can share your ideas with Fitbit/Google in the Product Feedback forum. It's best to limit feedback to one idea per suggestion.
