Hey, well I work mon-fri half 8 till 5 sat at a desk with a 1 hour dinner . I have my own horse so she literally is the only chance I get to exercise! I am up at 5am then straight to the yard, to muck out and feed her, then home shower and breakfast then off to work. As soon as I'm back from work i go back to the yard, in summer I'll ride but in winter is freezing and dark! My boyfriend bought me my fitbit so i could use it along side my riding . I just wanted to know how people use their fitbit along with their exercise. So when i ride I'm still wearing my fit bit as i thought that was the whole point ? I then found i could then log horse riding as a form of exercise but then my step count goes up, ahhh so confused lol! Whats the best way to get calories burned and steps accurate for my horse riding? do i need to take it off everytime I ride then log horse riding? Also if anyone wants to be friends please add me as Im still very new to this !

You will love your Fitbit ! I use mine on treadmill and rebounder (mini trampoline). This was housecleaning and last 33 minutes on the rebounder

@EllaBellaHorseback riding is not Step related. So you should only Manually log it.
Fitbit works best with Step related exercises

You shouldn't have to take it off when riding, or at least, I wouldn't think so. Instead, start your activity timer when you mount up (same process as sleep timer) and stop it when you dismount. Then replace the replace the timed activity you recorded by manually logging "horse riding" for the same time period and deleting the timed activity (if necessary) to eliminate the steps that the Fitbit recorded while you were riding.
Hope this helps, good luck

I guess I'm thick- I don't get it. When I ride I guess I have to take the fitbit off.

You could.
Either way, you are going to need to manually log the activity time/duration with horseback riding to get a better calorie burn estimate.
With it on - you'll be replacing the bogus steps and inflated calorie burn Fitbit came up with.
With it off - you'll be replacing the sleeping calorie burn rate Fitbit would use with no steps seen.
So either way you are making a manual workout record.
At least with it on, you can press the button and have exact start time and duration to use with your manual logging of the workout.
You can leave that activity record too, it's merely a snapshot of Fitbit stats, which your manual workout replaces.
