Hi all, it seems that most folks have either lost weight, or are looking to lose weight on this website. Any runners, racquetball players, spinners, or weight lifters in here, that just like tracking their activities to see their progress instead of simply losing weight?
I'd love to hear from some folks about how their fitbit has helped them hit, or exceed their goals. For instance, increasing weight lifting, number of physical activities completed every day/week/month, gained muscle mass, lowered BMI, increased their miles running, or time running, other things I'm not thinking of???
Thanks!!!

I got the Fitbit to also see how many steps in a day I take. I weightlift 6 days a week, teach fitness classes, and rarely do cardio. I am currently running a kids program at my gym and get walking in at work. I dont feel it is accurate with my weight training, but it isnt meant to track that.

I'm not really looking to lose weight (wouldn't want to lose much, anyway! On the lower side for healthy weight), but I am a previous runner who had to lay off due to knee injuries. Slowly going back to running/ cross training.

I think you are going to find pretty quick that the exercise tracking abilities for performance and such are NOT a highlight of the Fitbit site.
Let alone the majority of activities you listed aren't going to be tracked correctly anyway for any sort of stat.
Like weight lifting - how quickly is having a record of time of session and calorie burn going to be useful?
You'll need other apps for exercise related performance goals and progress.
I always loved the axiom from years ago - while you can use a spreadsheet as a word processor - why?

I have had a fitbit for years and I love to compete with my friends with steps. I'm training for a half marathon right now so it's been pretty easy to reach 10,000 steps a day. The mileage is off for me since I have long legs and it isn't callibrated to my steps, but I just go for steps as a goal usually.

I actually got the fitbit to fill in the blanks. I am pretty good about tracking my runs and other workouts. But what about the rest of the day? What about my sleep? I am really enjoying it so far. The downfall is there needs to be 1 product that does an amazing job of tracking all workouts- (HRM and Runs) - food diary- sleep- and daily activities. It is nutty because I have my Garmin and My Fitness Pal syncing with Fit Bit. Not to mention my runkeeper and garmin already sync together.
