Hi all, over the last year, I've gone from 20st to just under 13st with following SW, and this xmas my wife got me a Fitbit to start helping with the exercise side of things. I've noticed my blood pressure drop over the year, and have always been a bit of a hypochondriac over my heartbeat which sometimes feels loud.
So, now I have my beat displayed on graphs, it's great to be able to understand it better, so I have a few questions.
1. Everywhere online says a healthy Resting Heart Rate (RHR) is between 60-100, mine is around 57, and drops to around 50 overnight. From what I can find, that gives me an athletes heart before I've even run 1 step. Apparently that is good, is it?
2. Although my RHR is 57, that only seems to be while lying down, sitting I'm at 63 or so. Now the question here is that when I sit for long periods, I notice it sometimes vary between 58-75 and I'm doing nothing, is that normal?
3. I walk quite a lot (done 10,000 steps for the last two days without trying) and my heart beat goes up to around 110, is that normal? There is little to nothing on what values are good or bad? I mean it's double my RHR, that ok?
4. Sometimes when going to sleep it jumps up to 75 now and then, much like when I'm sitting, again, is that normal? It's still way within the 60-100, but if I'm normally 55 or so, seems a large jump, and I think that is the root of my noticeable heartbeat, is the random variation?
thanks for any replies, all these numbers are great and all, but I have no reference to see what they should be!

Numbers 1-3 all sound to be reasonable and normal. I would suggest if you have concerns regarding your HR spiking at times that might be something you want to discuss with your doctor along with the concern of the heartbeat sounding loud. I personally find discussing HR issues with my doctor to be the best solution for me.
Happy stepping.

I’d suggest when you see your primary care doctor for you annual visit that you bring up your concerns. Also might be handy to have your Fitbit app so you can show them. Most likely nothing is wrong since you’re not too far from the “normal” values though!
