Oh darlin' I used to work the night shift. Now I just get home at 10 or 11. But what the heck, I get my dogs out for walkies and it all evens out. At 12 my Flex moves steps to the next day so yayyy I have steps before I get out of bed.

I work nights as well!  Everyone at my work has a fit bit and we compete with each other it's nice to have the motivation from co-workers.  Are any of the other nurses on your floor interested in trying it?

I'm also a night owl!  I'm a Nurse Aide right now, but also a full-time nursing student (and fulltime mommy!).  I've managed to keep my weight maintained since switching to nights in March, but haven't been able to lose any more (I started this journey to healthy at 250 pounds; now at 231).  Support and advice would be awesome!

Thank you so much for your encouragement! I spend a lot of time with my two kiddos (I homeschool), so I don't feel bad taking a bit of time when my hubby gets home from work to myself - though sometimes it is sleep instead of exercise! LOL We moved earlier in the year and between that and the move to the night shift, I've struggled getting into a new exercise routine. One step at a time, though, 'eh? 🙂

I will keep you updated; thank you again!

Hello,

Wow congratulations on getting healthy and losing 19lbs that's an awesome accomplishment! Some days are harder than others to get motivated. I found that walking for an hour a day listening to my favorite tunes has really eased my stress and helped me make better food choices. I don't know about you but when life gets tough all I want to do is eat chocolate! I feel a little guilty taking the hour for myself since I have a six year old son, but I realize the healthier I am and the more active I am, the better role model I am for my son. I love hitting the 10k steps, sometimes the little things in life make you the happiest. Keep on moving night mommy! You got this! Keep me updated with your progress.

All my best,
Gypsiegirl

Night shift nurse here, just started yesterday with the Flex. There are a couple of people at work using Fitbit, that's where I found out about it. The work/sleep/eat schedule of us night owls is a challenge, no wonder so many struggle with weight loss. I'm a flipper...I like to work three in a row then get back to being up during the day on my days off. Would like to hear of some successful schedules out there...meal times vs sleep times.
