I love October! The heat of summer is mostly gone, and the icy cold of winter isn’t quite here yet. It is a GREAT time to get outside and move around. Plus at least two good festive events — German Beer/bratwurst/sauerkraut — Halloween!
How It Works
The primary purpose of these monthly challenges is to encourage you to set and hit your daily step goals for the month; though many of us track other things as well, like body weight exercises, sleep, trips to the gym, logging food, etc. This is not a competition to see who can do the most of whatever, instead it is a challenge to measure your consistency. So whether you do 1k, 5k, 10k or even 40k steps a day, this is measuring how many days out of the monthly total you can hit your goal.
Some might have a constant goal of 10k steps every single day and others might have a variable goal throughout the week, (and some might even plan days off!) for example.
Monday -> Friday = 10k steps a day
Sat & Sun = “6k steps a day,” or “not tracking”
Regardless of how you structure your daily goals, the only thing that matters for the monthly challenge is whether or not you reach what you set out to do.
Suggested Posting Format
1) Post either your constant or variable step goal.
2) Keep track of the # of daily goals achieved out of the monthly minimum and or monthly total

Although you certainly don’t have to post daily, you’ll likely stay closer to what you set out to do by updating the thread several times/week
Injury Notice
If you injure yourself during the month and need to scale back due to the injury, then all you have to do is adjust your goal for that period. If you normally do 10k steps a day but pull a hamstring and decide to do minimal walking (2k steps a day), then all you have to do is change your goal.

Same goals as the last several months, 20,000+ steps per day, 25 floors. May do better on the photo challenge this month, then again, maybe not.😊

Leaving early tomorrow to our last horse camp of the year, back Sunday. Weather looks good but cool and sunny.
Weather last night severe storms, including a small tornado about 1/4 mile south of our house moving west to east. Had a few minutes of wind here and lots of lightning. Power outage at 2 am, still out this morning. Walked down to the mailbox this morning and a neighbor stopped to tell me the road was blocked towards the main highway due to downed trees. We were able to get out to a different road by going north from our house. Four miles of rough gravel road. Power company must have had lots of damage as they didn't show up till 9 am to fix the lines and poles downed on our road. It took the county guys all day to clear all the wood off the road.

The way any of us "eats" is what works for each individual. We are all so different in our eating habits and discover what works for us. Another thing Char & I are trying to improve with is to ER&CYF, Eat Raw & Chew Your Food.😁 At this point we eat about 40% of our food raw, it's easy since we eat lots of vegies. Some dinners now consist of raw carrots, broccoli, celery, apple slices, etc with hummus as a dip. It is amazingly filling.

I have had it in the sciatic nerve before and it is painful
@benvegiSounds good to me. But I know my DH would not go for it. He has to have some kind of meat

@WendyB I'll try to not push it too much. 😋 I think I'm just re-injuring it, so it delays healing. This morning I made it up the two flights of stairs without wanting to collapse (never trust the elevators to not break down around here). What I hate with the sciatic pain, is when the pain starts to travel down my leg. If it stays isolated, I usually push through it. But once I start feeling pain in my thigh and knee, I'm pretty much done for.

I set out for a leisurely stroll yesterday and ended up walking 3 hours. Added to my normal 2 hour walk, itmeant I hit 37k steps! I feel good for having done such a big walk considering the horrible Auckland hills. Up, down, sideways, up very steeply, down very steeply haha

With this month slowly coming to an end (can you believe it?!?!?), I realized I’m not going to make my exercises & weights goal. But instead of giving up, I’ve reduced it from 25 to 20 to motivate me to get in at least 4 more days.
