It is the first full month of fall. The weather has been cooler for the past week or so, a real relief after all the heat in my neck of the woods; it is weird to be wearing pullovers again! But time moves quickly. The holidays and parties are just around the corner and I am already trying to be mindful of all the goodies coming my way in the next few months. Moderation. Moderation. Moderation. But for NOW, so long as I am not in the path of a hurricane, I plan to enjoy the weather and the changing seasons and get out and MOVE.
General monthly instructions are below, including the monthly picture scavenger hunt.
How It Works
The primary purpose of these monthly challenges is to keep track of your daily step goals for the month; though many of us track other things as well, like body weight exercises, sleep, trips to the gym, logging food, etc. This is not a competition to see who can do the most of whatever, instead it is a challenge to measure your consistency. So whether you do 1k, 5k, 10k or even 40k steps a day, this is measuring how many days out of the monthly total you can hit your goal.
Some might have a constant goal of 10k steps every single day and others might have a variable goal throughout the week, (and some might even plan days off!) for example.
Monday -> Friday = 10k steps a day
Sat & Sun = “6k steps a day,” or “not tracking”
Regardless of how you structure your daily goals, the only thing that matters for the monthly challenge is whether or not you reach what you set out to do.
Suggested Posting Format
1) Post either your constant or variable step goal.
2) Keep track of the # of daily goals achieved out of the monthly minimum and or monthly total

Although you certainly don’t have to post daily, you’ll likely stay closer to what you set out to do by updating the thread several times/week
Injury Notice
If you injure yourself during the month and need to scale back due to the injury, then all you have to do is adjust your goal for that period. If you normally do 10k steps a day but pull a hamstring and decide to do minimal walking (2k steps a day), then all you have to do is change your goal.

Thanks for the invite @Baltoscott . I plan to go home in a couple of weeks, so will set goals accordingly. Although I’ll be returning to Switzerland, where weather has also cooled off considerably, Texas still has day temps in the 90’s. But I like the beautiful sunlight, so am soaking up as much as I can while I’m here. :sun:

I will try to join in again in October. I will shoot once again, for 10k steps per day, gym 3 x per week, and stay below my calorie goal of 1,400. I will also try to lose a minimum of 0.2 lbs. daily. I will let everyone know now that I will fail in all of this from October 16 to 21. I have to take my DH to the VA hospital for his bi-annual checkup. It is about 235 miles south of us, so not exactly a day trip. I'll do what I can, and I will track it all, but I will probably not achieve many of my goals. The Gym will be out completely, of course.

Technically it’s the 2nd of October here already and we’re heading into Spring here in Australia, but I’d love to join in!
In two months I am going to fly to Cairns to meet my birth father and younger brothers and sisters for the first time in my 51 years, and hoping to have some great walking and bike riding adventures there, so lots of motivation here!

I was hoping to jump off with a good start for the bike mileage goal with a 45 mile Bike and Beers ride in Philadelphia, but hurricane Ian will be wrapping up in this part of the world, so I think I'll just head up for the beers and the T-Shirt. But I downloaded the route and plan to ride it later this month.
@Elijem -- Welcome. Wow, the upcoming trip to Cairns and first time meeting that part of your family sounds like a huge deal. I've never been to Australia but Cairns looks especially beautiful. I'll bet you are really looking forward to that (hopefully not too hot then). I should have taken pictures today on my ride back home from the cottage. The leaves are just starting to turning beautiful colours of reds and orange and the sun was shining at just the right angle. Will capture when I go out back next weekend 😉

Yesterday was a good day. Took my first photo on my walk. Sorry it’s not better quality - I had to keep reducing it down to get it to post. The wildflowers are popping out as Spring comes to South Australia. I was checking the trees for koalas but didn’t spot any today.
My legs are feeling it - our local area is a bit hilly.
