Old physical games for kids

I know that these times are strange and kids don't play the good old games that were great to do exercise anymore. My favorite game was "Hide and Seek" since I spent great times with my friends and helped me to maintain a healthy life when I was a kid.

Do you guys remember any other physical games when you were kids?

So, @JuanJoFitbit , you ever chase fireflies? Not exactly a game, but can have a kid running all over the yard. I recall playing "tag" and "Simon says" along with my cousins and everyone had a swing set.  Badminton, Frisbee and volleyball are easy enough, even with two people. Mostly as a kid I rode my bike by a school where there was a bit of woods with a path. My brother had a paper route and I used to walk it with him. (Being his sister helped when it was Halloween or selling Girl Scout cookies!) My neighbor has a basketball goal right out on the street, with the goal facing the house, where anyone wanting to play just needs to bring a ball. There are kids there all the time, riding bikes and playing games in their yard.

Hey @DylanPritsker - what do kids play outside these days? Do schools even have gym class or recess so the kids can play?

So many school break times spent playing "Scramble". Whereby you have to throw a tennis ball or something of similar size at participants, if you hit them (excluding heads) they were out, if they caught your throw, you were out. The only way you get back in is if the person who got you out, becomes out, releasing all the people they got out. Or one person was left as they got everyone out. It was amazing. Not played just at school either.

Depends on age of kids

  • freeze tag
  • red light, green light
  • simon says
  • nature scavenger hunt
  • photo walk (you go for a walk and call out differnt poses or shapes the group has to make. I did this wiht my girl scout troop and I had them use the shadows their body created to make words, letters, shapes) then you take a picture
  • obsticle course, you can use all sorts of items around the house for barriers or directions, or create one with chalk of pool noodles (from $1 store)

KICKBALL in 5th and 6th grade was so much fun and kept me so active! I also loved hide and seek with my  friends in the neighborhood.

Hi everyone! I forgot about some games you guys mentioned but by reading your posts, I traveled back in time and I will teach those games to my little nephew so he can know what are the real games and he can exercise at the same time ha ha ha.
